Hi all. This is my first time posting on these boards. I am 34 wks pregnant and can't wait to strt running again. I had just started when we found out and then had to stop. My mom surprised us with a trip to Disney in November and I noticed te food and wine half has been moved until then so I am excited to be able to run my first half in Disney! Is anyone else running? Did anyone run last years?
What can I expect I have never done a running event so I am a total newbie here :thumbsup2 I am planing on running a 5k in may . Thanks

Welcome! I have not run it personally, but my DH ran it last year. It was his first 1/2 and he LOVED it!!! I was there in EPCOT when he crossed the finish line and we really enjoyed the party. :rotfl: I hope to run it someday too. This year I am doing the Princess and hopefully the DL 1/2 so I can earn my coast-to-coast medal!

I have been thinking about doing the F&W too. My 43 Bday is on the 10th so I thought this would be a great way to celebrate. I already took the time off work and hope to spend the next 10 months training and doing a few events in my area leading up to WDW. I have never tried something like this before. My friend who has run several events said that night running is harder because there are less visual goals to focus on.

Good for you! The Princess 1/2 will be my first long race. I just started running in June 2011 and I am so nervous!!!

I'm hoping to run it! I'm running the Tinkerbell in under 3 weeks(gulp) and depending on how that goes will decide what I do for Wine & Dine... I ran my first race ever on this past friday at the Family Fiesta 5K from WDW marathon weekend!! It was great!!

F&W is my favorite of the Disney races that I've done so far. I LOVE that it starts at night so you don't have to get up at an insane hour and stand around shivering waiting for the race to start.

A 5k in May is an excellent idea to get you motivated to start running again once the baby is born and you are physically ready. I would also recommend signing up for a local 10k or 10m race in September to give you experience with a little longer race.

Update us once the baby is born.

The day of the race did you relax for the day or go to the parks part of the day?

I would really love to do this race if financially possible this year. I am planning on a 10k or 10 miler in late August locally to prep.

We relaxed the day of the race. Actually...I did the 5K that morning and then we spent the day by the pool and had a late lunch in DTD. After that we took a nap back at the hotel. When DH left for the race I headed over to Epcot to see Illuminations and wait for him.

I'm hoping that dh and I will be able to the w&d together. We have four kids, but this would be an adults only trip. I'm very excited about this possibility!

Our W&D trip was adults only and we had a great time!!!

Hehe, well, my plan was to relax all day, but it was the 40th anniversary of MK, so I HAD to visit MK for a couple of hours, but then I went back to the hotel and sat in the hot tub for a little while to relax my muscles. I was a little sad that I missed the special 40th anniversary fireworks, but the race was worth it!
