about Penny Presses, Hidden Mickeys, Chilldswap, Fastpasses, expensive food, autograph books, rain ponchos...

What else?? Do tell!!

try to eat out of sync with the crowds, like late/early lunch, early or late dinner. These seem to be good times to ride!

also, try to catch the second parade (if there is one). try to watch the parades further into the route rather than on Main St. It is usually much less crowded.

Fast Pass is a great feature. It is only featured on certain rides. Are you aware of how it works? Do you want expensive food or not? Autograph books can be found in just about any WDW shop, as far as I know. Great fun for the kids :) If you don't bring your own rain ponchos, you can buy some in WDW.

If you are doing the penny press, keep a supply of quarters and pennies in a mini M&M tube (or prescription pill bottle). That way you have the change and penny all together and can get at it easily.

One of your ?'s was expensive food - If you are staying on property look into the meal plan. We have found it to be a good deal for our family.

As for the rest of your questions - the best advice I could give a newbie is to visit the Disboards as often as possible before your trip. Especially the Theme Park Board - you will pick up a wealth of knowledge about everything in "the World". Copy the things that interest you over to a file that you can print and bring on your trip. I was already a seasoned WDW traveler when I found the boards - and I can't tell you how much I have picked while on the DIS. It makes your trip that much more enjoyable!

Don't try to do everything.

Stop and smell the roses.

PENNY PRESSES are all over the place, and it costs 25 cents plus the penny to press.....HIDDEN MICKEYS...there's a whole book donated to the subject, you can find it in the hotel shop or buy it before hand in Borders Books, Barnes & Nobles....CHILDSWAP is on certain rides...both parents stand in line with the child(ren)...one parent gets on the ride....the other waits with the child(ren)...when the parent gets off the ride...the other gets on the next ride available....FASTPASSES are given on certain rides that are known to be popular...you insert your park ticket into a machine outside that ride, and it spits out a fast pass ticket so that yo can come back within a 15 minute interval off the fast pass time and get on the ride within a few minutes(instead of waiting for extended periods on the line)....EXPENSIVE FOOD....do you want to EAT expensive food...OR do you want to know where to eat that's not going to empty your wallet (as another poster said....get the meal plan if you are staying on property...it saves quite a bit of $ and you get to eat at the more expensive restaurants)AUTOGRAPH BOOKS can be purchased at any of the stores on Disney property...just make sure you also buy a pen (characters prefer sharpie markers...they can handle them better) RAIN PONCHOS...can be brought with you(you can buy them in your local drug store for $.99, or can be purchased in all the parks at any booth or store....BRING SUNSCREEN, have a PLAN OF ATTACK FOR EACH PARK, MAKE SURE YOU TAKE TIME OUT TO RELAX...Not sure of how long you'll be there for, or what month, or how many of you and what the ages are.....but, take the time to see what you want to really see, don't become the "oh no, we have to get there now" person...go enjoy, see what you can see this trip comfortably, and start planning your next trip back on your ride home (or sooner)!

I can't say it enough...you can't do enough planning for a Disney trip! I am amazed at the conversations that I hear around me while at Disney-you can tell how many people go absolutely clueless. Those people miss out on so much!

Hang out on the Disboards, Join Tourguide Mike, read the unofficial guide...whatever...just know Disney!!!

Fastpass.
Arrive before the parks open.
Single Rider Lines.

Buy rain ponchos at your local $ store before you leave.

make your adr's (priority seatings) for any sit down restaurants you want before you go (180 days out now).

know which rides are slow loaders and have notoriously long lines and don't offer fastpass (dumbo, tomorrowland race cars, astro orbitor) and do them early if you're going to do them at all.

have an idea of the layout of the parks, and at least a loose touring plan. a good touring plan is invaluable though...

Stay on property!

Use SUNSCREEN! I am serious about this! :sunny:

Wear your best walking shoes/sandals.

Don't be shy about asking other people to take your picture,
so YOU can be in it!

Drink lots of water, not Coke, not beer! :drinking:

Explore all of the nooks & crannies.

If you feel yourself getting cranky, stop..... get into the A/C, take a deep breath and be grateful for being where you are! :thumbsup2
