First-timer with some questions ...

We are planning our first trip to WDW with our two girls, ages 5 and 2, this May. Our younger daughter will turn 3 when we are there. Some questions ...

1) We are thinking of the POR for May 21-28. Is this a good time to go to WDW? Crowded? Hot? And the resort. I've read many good things about this resort. Which building/location would you recommend?

2) Another possibility is the Swan & Dolphin for May 29-June 5. This is Memorial Day Weekend and the week afterwards. Crowded? Any comments on the Swan & Dolphin?

3) The week of May 29-June 5 also coincides with Gay Days at WDW. Has anyone ever been during this week? Any thoughts/comments? Are the parks overcrowded during these days b/c of this event?

4) I can book a room at the POR for $129 per night with a AAA rate. Is this pretty good, or should I wait a few more weeks for the much-talked-about discount codes to be publicized?

I'm sure I'll think of more questions later on, so these are just for "starters." I read the board this weekend and found it to be very helpful, and I thank you in advance for your thoughts/comments.

Here's some other websites that will help you with your planning:

Daily crowd levels (rated 1 for lowest, 10 for highest)

Orlando's average daily temps (just choose the month)

Menu's at all park/resort eateries (VERY helpful in planning budget).

As far as prices for resorts go, we normally use AAA first to reserve a room. Then when better codes come out we use those. Watch the DisBoards for code information. Codes (normally three letters--ex. "B-A-T" was a big one last year) normally give 30-45% discounts. When codes are released, you simply call CRO (Central Reservations Office) and ask to apply the code to your reservation (or, as many do, upgrade to a higher class resort or room). Mousesavers.com is another good site for money saving information.

While the other sites are great for information, The Disboards are the BEST for swapping information with other Disney-minded folks. Have a great time planning your trip. Many of us feel planning is a big part of the fun (and another way to make those dollars stretch). Have a great trip, and visit the boards often to share thoughts and experience.
