Hi All!

What a great board! My husband and I are doing the Disney Marathon next January and I am in need of some guidance. My husband has been to WDW (many years ago), but I have never been. We are leaving or 2 year old ith his grandparents.

Wondering where to start? I tried booking the Ritz Carlton Grande Lakes, but it is apparently full already (can this be?). Am I trying reserve too early? I have read so many mixed reviews on the Grand Floridian. I am indifferent if the hotel is in the resort. We just want something nice, with good service. It does not have to be 5 star either.

We already got the flights under control (we live in England - my husband us British). I was think we would stay about 7-10 days.

Also, considering doing the 3 day Disney cruise.

I am hoping to connect with those who have done or are doing the marathon as well as Disney cruisers.

WELCOME TO THE DIS BOARDS - YOU WILL FIND IT VERY HELPFUL ON ANY QUESTIONS YOU MIGHT HAVE

:cool1: I didn't run in the WDW Marathon (didn't even walk in it) but I've been in the "world" at that time.Very exciting,have a great time.........I won't say,have a great trip!!!You know what I mean.........Enjoy the magic! :cheer2:

I have run WDW 26.2 3 times. I would stay at OKW. It is the Only hotel near start(6 AM) you don't have to deal with buses at 4 AM. You can get up and walk out to start. They have all size rooms. I will be down this year for both the 13.1 & 26.2.

Welcome, and good luck in the Marathon. I am sure you and your husband will have a good trip. The DIS will have a lot of information for you. Check out the resort page for more info on the best resorts. We love the WL, but if you would like a resort near your marathon, there are many other with info, the cruise people here also have a lot of information. Have a good vacation. :wave2:

I would add to this that if you do want to stay at OKW to check out the DVC rent points board. It will be much cheaper to rent points from someone than to pay direct to Disney to stay there.

Welcome to the Dis and Happy planning! :flower:
