Hi, we're looking to go to WDW at the end of the year, probably December for 2 weeks.

We would ideally be flying direct from Glasgow, but I have no idea of the options/variations available for flights and what to look out for.

Can anyone give me a ball park figure for flights in December and advise what route we should be looking for and the best airlines?

Many thanks in advance for your replies - the price of the flights will totally depend on whether we can afford to go or not - 5 in our family + 2 others.

Hi

I see you are in Glasgow, but are you willing to consider Edinburgh departures too? I only ask as this will open up more options for you.

Continental goes via Newark to Orlando from both, Delta flies from ... can't remember which one now, but there is also one stop in the US.

Your options for direct flights is better with the charter airlines like Thomas Cook and First Choice/Thomsons. They all fly to Sanford, not MCO but if you want direct from Scotland you really don't have a choice.

As for prices, I don't dare even try to estimate. The prices seem to be all over the place this year. I would suggest, if it is a possibility, not to disregard packages when getting your quotes too. Occasionally you get a really great deal with these. :goodvibes

I would recommend Continental we used them last year along with VA and BA and they were the best. My flights are not out yet for Feb 2011 but my travel agent has given me a fare now of £1800 approx thats for 2 adults and 2 children from Belfast via Newark

Thanks for the replies.

What's MCO? What is the preferred destination? I'd like to avoid a change of aircraft is possible.

We'll probably stay onsite, without a car so would want to use Magic Express. Is this available from any all nearby airports?

I would consider flying from Edinburgh, or even Manchester if it offered a better deal/flight.

MCO is orlando international airport, its the only airport ME goes to and from, vigin fly direct to MCO from manchester, pm me if you need more info

It's a few years since we went in December so wouldn't want to guess about price.
If you are doing indirect flights consider the weather conditions at your connecting airport and their history of flight delays.
We travelled with IcelandAir twice in December/January, didn't have any weather/delay issues. THey fly into Sanford,Orldando.

MCO is Orlando International Airport. If you want to Use Magical Express you need to fly into MCO.

Great, thanks. That makes things a bit clearer - so It'd probably be Manchester then to MCO for using Magic Express.

Now to sort the accommodations................I'll go a read up on this I think!

Thanks again for your replies - very much appreciated :goodvibes
