HI ALL YOU DISNEY FANS!Our family (DW, DH, DD8, DS6) , went on our first family trip in Oct. 2005, and we are still on a Disney high! I think our friends are getting a bit tired of our stories!
Our plane ride from the west coast to Florida was the only "not-so-great thing" about the trip.
For any other First-timers, my first suggestion would be to try and stay for 10 days. We were there for 8 and DEFINITELY would have loved to have 2 more days. One for another day at MK and another day at EPCOT.Here's our itinerary and things we LOVED!!

DAY 1: arrival in Orlando at 7pm and our hotel, the PO Riverside. We absolutely loved this Resort! We were in one of the "mansions" right on the river and very close to the main bldg.

DAY 2: EMH arrival at Animal Kingdom. Our kids were picked to be the Honorary Park Openers (if you get there early, try to get right in front and chat with the park employees---maybe you'll be picked for this special honor too!) This park was so much fun and a great opener for our vacation! We stayed until about 3:30 (skipped the parade) and went back to the hotel to swim and eat. :tink:

DAY 3: Our first day at EPCOT. Arrived about 8:30am. LOVED-LOVED-LOVED SOARIN' and Test Track. And had a good time on all the other "science/educational" rides. We did not go on Mission:Space. We had so much fun with all the characters at Epcot and got great photos. Unfortunately, we only got to see about 5 countries and would have loved to have another day for just the countries. The kids enjoyed all the kidcot stations and character autographs. Left park around 6pm. Went swimming at Hotel. :rainbow:

DAY 4: DAY 1 AT Magic Kingdom! Arrived at 8:30am. Stuck to TGM's morning schedule and rode TONS of stuff without waits. (By lunch time everyday it started to get pretty busy, so we would just go where ever the kids wanted to go and not stick to a schedule.)We had dinner at 4pm at the Crystal Palace. What a great time of the day to sit and relax and eat--"normal" food. We saw both parades this day, Share a Dream and Spectro and we watched Wishes. Left park around 10:30pm. pixiedust:

DAY 5: Because of our late night last night, we decided to hit the Typhoon Lagoon water park. I HIGHLY recommend a water park (or DTD, something a little low key after a late night with kids!) We got to sleep in a little and were at the park by 10am. What a fun day!! The kids loved this water park and mom and dad have fun too! If you go here, Don't miss the snokeling with the sharks and fish! Awesome! Left at 5:30pm. Freshened up and went to Downtown Disney! :fish:

DAY 6: Day 2 at MK. arrived at 8:30am and went on a few new rides we missed on day 1 and then went back to all our favs! Left park around 4pm to get ready for the Hoop-De-Doo Revue! DO NOT MISS this dinner-show!! It was by far one of the best times we had! And on the boat ride back from the Wilderness campground, at 9:30pm, our driver stopped the boat so we could watch the Fireworks!! AMAZING!!!!!! :wizard:

DAY 7: Arrived at MGM about 8:30am and had a GREAT day! Loved all the shows and TOT and ROCKIN'. We had dinner at the SCI-FI. Great place to eat! Saw lots of fun characters and don't miss the "street performers". We left around 6:30pm and went to the hotel to swim. :smickey:

DAY 8: Our last day!! We started the day with the wonderful Princess breakfast in Epcot at the Akershus castle. The princesses we beautiful and the food was yummy! Then we hit Soarin' and Test track again and last minute shopping! We left around 12:30 to get back to the hotel and leave for the airport!! princess:

Hello Fellow Oregonian!! (grew up in Portland but live in VA now) :teleport:

Thanks for posting your report - you seemed to fit in the parks & relaxation which made for a great trip (I agree about having 2 more days but gives you more to look forward to on next trip - at least that's what my daughter told me last trip). How was the weather in October? We're going in October this year and hope it's not too hot & humid.

YEA! We LOVE living here in Portland! That being said--- Florida was SO hot & humid! We were there oct. 6-13 and it was about 90* everyday with high humidity. We're talking "sweat-dripping" right when you walk out of the hotel room. But, that also made it very nice for dips in the pool and going to the waterpark. Our kids love to swim and that was almost as fun for them as the "world".
Have a great trip!!
