First timer, leaving in a little over a week, and having trouble deciding and figuring out excursions at ports. We have 3 little ones (Ages 6, 4, 3) so can't do most of the snorkeling trips, etc. Stops are BVI/Tortola, St. Thomas, and Castaway Cay. Dilemma of booking something through Disney or just catching a cab to a beach at each location. Suggestions?

Can't help with the other ports, but after our first trip, I realized that I didn't need to "prebook" our Castaway Cay excursions of biking and snorkeling. You can totally just rent that stuff when you decide you want to do it, and then if you don't want to do it, you haven't spent the money! I was there on the Magic, though, so take that into account (in that it is a smaller ship). Might be different for Fantasy/Dream.

The day at Magen's Bay at St Thomas this week was amazing. Plenty of time, restrooms, great transport, restaurant. The excursion was $39/ person I believe. Tortola at the Baths would be too challenging for small children in my opinion.

did you go with the disney excursion or on your own? what's the difference?

We are going on the same cruise in April. One of my kids is under 5 so had the same issue with excursions. Did a bunch a research and I think we will just take a cab to Cane Garden Bay in Tortola and either Megan's Bay (worried about the crowds though) or Morningstar Beach in St. Thomas. I know Disney offers beach excursions, but just seems a lot cheaper hopping in a cab ourselves.
