You get used to it, but I remember the first time I saw a girl going to the bathroom outside at a race (probably Disney). My reaction was partly, "what the hell was that" and partly, "that is awesome".

What other "odd" things have you seen at races that would be very wierd to see in real life.

"Accidents" with those who didn't make it off of the side of the road or to a Port-o-potty. Enough said. :scared:

Scott - This is a really good idea for a thread. :thumbsup2 At the moment I can't think of any, but if I do, I'll be back.

A guy in a speedo and sneakers...and nothing else!

I saw a lot of firsts at the Disneyland 1/2 Marathon this year. The one that really sticks out was seeing a man running barefoot during the race.

I also had a fellow racer push me and several other runners out of his way forcefully at a waterstop during the Disneyland 1/2. I've never encountered such a rude runner before.

I saw this dude's pictures in last January's ASI Photo lost and found section. Where in the hell was his race bib?:lmao: And didn't anyone tell him it was a Disney family theme park :scared1: ?

At the Disneyland Half in 2007, people were dropping like flies due to the heat. Ambulances, and medics left and right.

At the Disneyland Half 2008, a woman was collapsed on the walkway between the Esplanade and Harbor Blvd. She must have been down for at least 30 minutes before they loaded her into the ambulance. No family or friends with her.

Here in Honolulu, seeing people hit the wall and fall is a common sight. High humidity and heat, and they're just not used to it.

Casey,

I hope the guy wasn't wearing WISH green?

Next time chop block him, and take him down. And while doing so, yell at him "WHO'S YOUR MOMMA! YOU SOB!" :lmao:

At the Marathon last year I was running and saw a person collapse. Within literally seconds I saw Medics arrive and take care of her. Things like that make me wonder if she was able to get back up and keep going.

Saw a guy holding up an American flag on a pole the whole Race at the Miami ING.

Saw a guy wearing waiter outfit carrying a tray of drinks.

Tracy

Are any of you dressing up? I was thinking about going as Minnie, but the red running skirt and ears clashed with the WISH lime green. :rotfl:

I'm not planning on dressing up but I did see 2 people at the Philadelphia marathon dressed as Thing 1 and Thing 2-- full red long johns and bright blue fuzzy wigs, pretty funny

Ok so the guy in the speedo and sneakers reminds me of a guy who runs alot of the local 5Ks. He is 74 years old and does a 5k in around 23 minutes - give or take - he runs in nothing but what looks like a Speedo (or what the female sprinters in the Olympics wear) sneakers, a baseball cap he wears backwards and a water bottle stuck in his crack. He's not hard to miss!! But seriously one of these days I wish I am able to run as fast as him and still be at it at his age.

I've seen my fair share of loogies all over the road. There was a guy who juggled the whole way during the TOT 13k in 2007. I have seen people at different 5k's holding an American flag (probably the 2 Freedom 5k's I have done right before 4th of July) And at the Turkey Trot 5k I did I saw someone dressed up like a pilgram.

I am so a candidate for fashion police then. I wore my Minnie dot skirt with the lime green shirt at the Minnie. I actually enjoyed it. Felt like I was at home on the trail or in the gym wearing whatever I yank outta that drawer!
:thumbsup2

The bare foot posts remind me of a guy around me who runs bare foot. That is not too odd but when he was standing next to me at the urinal before a race, I was a little skeaved out. They were not the cleanest floors.

Wow, this thread has been an eye-opener for me!

The WDW marathon will be my 2nd race ever, so this gives me an idea of some of the things I might encounter. Keep 'em coming...I think. :confused3
