I will go going to WDW in September with my brother, sister-in-law and our 3 nephews and 1 neice. My husband and I go every year, but do not have kids, so this is a first for us.

My brothers family is going through something quite difficult now, and we want to make sure this trip is extra special for all of them.

I have made books for each of the kids with pictures, facts about their drive to WDW, our hotel, and a WDW Challenge for each of them. They will get points for going on different rides, eating different foods, etc - and they will get prizes at the end of the week. I've gotten them autograph books and pens, and planned a special day for each of them (MNSSHP and TREX). I plan on mailing these things to them over the course of the next 3 months.

Can you think of anything else I can do to keep them excited over the next three months? And anything extra special I can plan?

how about printing them a personal map(the one with their name on it) off the disney site so they can see what the park looks like and where theyll be visiting

At the top of this forum, there's a "Fairy godmother" thread. Sign up. Someone will send the kids a postcard from WDW, anticipating their trip. They ask that you sign up to "pay it forward" and send one to someone going after you do.

And get them the "Disney with Kids" book so the older kids can take a look at what's available.

My kids went for the first time last year, after a rough summer. It's been a brutal year since then (I mean really, really bad-- the kind they don't make sitcoms out of because no one would believe it.) So we're going back again this year.

To be honest, Disney is really special without a lot of other stuff thrown in.

Send them a countdown chart. There is even a poster on here right now who has a countdown chain they'll send out. We made our own and our kids loved that. If they are old enough you could get them the Birnbaum's Disney for kids book. We have this and my kids just love it. When we went on our first trip they poured over it and used that to help them plan what they wanted to do.

Get reservations for something like the Hoop-Dee-Doo. It is so much fun! My kids just loved this. I would definitely plan for some character meals too. The GF also has a kids cooking class, but check into it now because if fills up fast.

I hope this trip helps your brother's family with whatever it is they're going through right now. :grouphug: Have fun.
