Hi Everyone,
Well I have been lurking and reading for a while now. My hubby and I are doing Atkins. It has been 9 weeks as of yesterday. He is down 38.5 pounds. I was down 15.5 and gained 3 back yesterday. Has this ever happened to anyone else. I am still doing the 20 carb a day regimen and havent cheated at all. I am totally bummed out. Wish I could blame it on the female thing but I dont get that anymore (something to really smile about:)). HELP!!!! I am so po'd I want to cheat. I mean really I might as well have had a piece of cheesecake if I am gonna gain weight. OH BOTHER!!!!!!

Its funny you mention that. I was just reading in his book that men ALWAYS lose weight easier than women. First, you still have hormonal flucuations...doesn't matter what time in your life you are in. Men also have more muscle to begin with, so they can burn fat faster. Not fair is it? My best friends DH has also lost weight a lot faster than she and I have, and its sooooo frustrating. We both want to just hit him.!

I'm really glad you decided to join us.

I am menopausal and "gained" 6 pounds over vacation. I was faithful to my Atkins eating plan. It was a "false" gain of fluid. It went away after a few days, but I have a bad habit of retaining fluid so it is never far away.

I imagine that your gain is fluid too.

Grab the challenge clipart and join us. We have a great support group going here, I'm so glad you will be part of it now :)

I think I read the same article as Dizzy-Disney4. It mentioned that because of testosterone (sp?) level in men, they build muscle faster which burns the calories faster.

for the support

I was withing 4.5 of my goal and now its 7.5 whine whine whine. I will stick with it as I want a smaller tush by my trip in May.

And yes......smack those Men for losing so fast...it is just not fair:mad: after all we are the ones who are more appearance oriented.

Off to excercise class.

Good thing you're on the Atkins plan, Cindy, you can have cheese with your whine ;) (just teasing you)

Welcome Cindy!!! Glad you decided to post!!!! Congratulations to you and your DH! Those are some wonderful numbers to report!!!

Forget about that 3 pound gain, it's not fat! Even though you don't "get that anymore" it is still water weight, TRUST ME!!!

I started WW on Sunday. DH works out every day at the gym, and has been holding steady at 214 for the last few months. He didn't change his eating habits at all, but he weighed himself yesterday and is now 211. I think he's losing my WW weight!!!!! Arrrrgh! Those men!!! ;) ;) ;)

Hope to see you posting often. Stick with it. You'll see a loss next time (are you measuring yourself as a back up? Those inches count too!)

Good luck and hang in there!

Wish I had measured myself as I know the inches are coming off. My jeans fit much better.

Thanks for the support gang. I needed it. I am sticking too it. I will get this last bit off. And keep it off this time.

I never think about gaining water weight since I dont have the "friend " anymore. Makes sense though. Since my hysto last year I had put on 20 pounds. YUCK!! So I am glad to be gettting back to me.

And yes nativetxn.....its a good thing I can have cheese with my whine....:). I have been whining alot lately.
