We are planning a trip for Nov 2021 and this will be our first time at Galaxy’s edge, but also our first visit to HS in many years. We will have 6 year old and 3 year old along with the grandparents. Do you recommend spending a day in just the Star Wars area and a separate day in the rest of the park, or is it worth just visiting both areas as time allows. We know the kiddos will be excited about many of the new rides/areas like toy story and runaway railway. thanks!

We always have spent more than one day at each of the parks.
The current DHS lineup makes than an even better plan.

I'll be going in September 2021 for 4 nights/5 days. This will be my first visit since they built Toy Story Land and Galaxy's Edge. Let me preface this by saying I'm a Star Wars fan. Not a monster fan where I can tell you all of the planets and background characters (LOL), but I was at the premiere in my home town in 1977 and have been a fan since. Anyway, I have two days dedicated to HS, not only because I'm a SW fan, but there's so much new stuff there since my last visit. So, needless to say, if I were you, I would definitely plan on two dedicated days at the park. If you find out you've done everything you wanted to do in less time, you'll have the option to park hop.

If you are a SW fan then yes you may want to spend one day only on Batu but then the conundrum becomes what do you do for your other day at DHS? IMO DHS isn't a full day park pre-COVID and even now, with SWGE it's still barely a whole day. Even if you get a boarding pass for ROTR, build a light saber and eat inside Batu and really stretch your time inside of Batu, you can still accomplish a lot of attractions in the rest of DHS especially since we have no real shows/entertainment going on right now post COVID. It's really your call on how you like to travel. With grandparents and little ones in tow, you can definitely take your time and have a low key relaxed trip. If you find that you have too much down time, you can always hit some skyliner resorts too.

Unless you are a big Star Wars fan, I would say one day is plenty. We went in November and were able to ride everything in the park except ROTR (could not get a boarding pass) and still had time to explore Galaxy's edge.

If you really want to make sure you ride rise of the resistance, then pick 2 days. That way you have more chances for getting a boarding pass.
One thing about galaxy's edge with young kids that I did not expect; the sound effects were too much for my 7 year old. She had seen most of the movies so I thought she would be fine, but as soon as we got near the outpost and she heard all the deep bass sounds they play that make it sound like ships overhead, she got scared and had to leave. Make sure to have a backup plan since you have young kids. Good news is that toy story land is a great back up plan.

It will definitely be less stressful having 2 days at HS. It's also nice to have 2 days at MK with the ages of your kids. How many days are you going?

There may be more shows/entertainment by the time OP is there in 11 months.

I disagree, I had a full day there in August and didn't do everything I wanted (plus Frozen wasn't open either). But I'm one that thought it was a full day park evem before TSL and GE opened. I find there is plenty to do.

We don't ever spend a whole day at HS, even our first trip to Galaxy's Edge when we did ROTR and had to wait two hours for Smuggler's Run. But we don't ever sit down in restaurants, either, so that would make a difference.

Unless you are all huge SW fans, I don’t think you’ll need to dedicate a full day to Batuu alone.
I agree. And with the ages of your kids, I think you’ll spend more time in Toy Story Land. Batuu is interesting and very detailed, but as @scrappinginontario said, it’s most interesting to huge Star Wars fans, especially older ones, as opposed to casual ones, especially very young kids.

PS We were at WDW last week with our adult kids and their families, including grandkids ages 16, 12 and 12. We spent two days at DHS and scored two rides on RotR, but at the end of the trip their favorite rides in DHS were RnR and ToT, each of which they rode multiple times. One ride on the Falcon was enough for them. If it hadn’t been that I was the trip planner and wanted to do RotR twice, they might not have done it.

Right now, HS is missing two of its daytime shows and all of its fireworks, so at this moment, l’m not sure you need two days there. With your kids ages, I do think you need two full days at MK.

Batuu won’t take a whole day by itself, even if you build a droid and a lightsaber and get a ROTR boarding pass.

If you already have a day at AK, a day at EP, two days at MK, then if you have two more days, I think 2 at HS would be good. But if you had to pick between a second day at HS or MK, pick MK.

No. And Im a huge star wars fan. I had 2 days reserved there. After the first day i changed our 2nd hollywood studios day to magic kingdom. You can do everything in hollywood studios in half a day. And its not somewhere i felt the need to sit and enjoy the sorroundings because it doesnt have the beauty of the other parks other then parts of galaxys edge unless sitting in a city street is something you would enjoy. But Im not a roller coaster guy so i didnt do tower and rockin roller coaster so if thats your thing you will enjoy that park more.

We are Star Wars fans and HS is a one day park. We were able to ride and experience everything in one day (shopping, Cantina, build a light saber, etc.) that we wanted on our Thanksgiving week trip. I could see doing 2 days if you want multiple rides on something in particular.

EDIT: I'll add that you cannot miss ROTR. Better to plan 2 days to improve your chances of getting a spot. Also Smuggler's Run is worth multiple rides.
