Hi All,
We are getting ready to book our first DvC stay - probably booking in mid-Sept for mid to late August 2016.

We want to book a week at our home resort, BWV and then I am open to suggestions for the other week, which I will need to book at 7 months out.

We are a family of four from UK, hence the two week stay (two teenage daughters) looking to stay in a Studio somewhere.

Any suggestions for a good pairing with BWV? Thanks :)

I'd actually be tempted to do two weeks at BWV - love the location! Alternatively, given that you will be so well located for the first week, you could go for somewhere more relaxing like AKLV or WLV.

Thanks for the suggestions - I thought with it being two weeks we could take the opportunity to try two resorts? I was thinking maybe a monorail resort, so that we are near Epcot / Studios for one week and MK for the other. I guess that WLV could achieve that as well, with nice relaxing theming as well. I have even thought about SSR if Disney Springs is likely to be fully operational by then.

If you have the points I would try out the Poly. We don't know right now how easy/ hard it will be to stay there once all the points have been sold, so I would try for that if it is available. Plus the studios are very large and the extra bathroom space would be nice with teenage girls.

I'd try something unique and a little removed from the parks - either AKV or else SSR. Of course AKV is close to AK and it's very unique. Looking back AKV and BWV are the resorts we stay have stayed at the most. But SSR for easy access to Disney Springs would be a nice change too.

I second the VWL - it gives you a NW US feel, some good restaurants and easy access to MK via the boats and/or buses. And to access the monorail, you can also take the boat over to the Contemporary. On the other hand SSR would be great too with easy access to DTD via boats or walking path. It is also very restful with great pools and good food choices.

Pick a MK resort, do Epcot, DHS and AK during your BWV stay and MK during your MK resort stay.

In reality it doesn't really matter, you will be staying at all of the resorts many times during your ownership.

OKW will have 2 queen beds, while other studios will have a double sofabed for the 2nd bed. VWL and poly will have a bench that turns into a murphybed in addition to sofabed, so both girls could have their own sleeping area. i agree about staying at a 2nd resort--it really feels like a different vacation. We love AKV for the theming, very nice pool areas, great community hall (place to chill, with lots of crafts that DD14 loves). We also really like the Key West theming of OKW. The OKW pool area is very nice, even has a sandy "beach" area right be the pool. OKW also has the boat that you can can directly to downtown disney. For my teens, it would be a toss up between AKV and OKW for a 2nd week. OKW will have outside walkways, while AKV will be inside--meaning you don't get rained on getting to your villa at OKW. AKV will also have better quick service food options, esp. for breakfast. AKV might be nice for the 2nd week, esp. if might be getting tired and want some resort days. There is a lot to do at AKV.
Note--we had had AKV savannah and standard views. We now book a standard view to save points--there are plenty of places in the lobby, community hall, etc. to view the animals.

We did a BWV/AKV trip and really enjoyed it. AKV was a much more leisurely stay, and the pool is really great. If you won't be going to the parks every day, I'd stay there. If you want to stay at a Magic Kingdom resort, I'll warn you that BLT's studios are very small. I don't think I could survive with two teenage girls in that small space.

Book BWV for the entire two weeks, then switch out on week at 7 months...don't assume you may get something and be shut out. I vote for VWL, points will be similar...BLV, Poly and GFV will be more points...nice if you can afford.

If you want to go for Monorail resorts, BLT(remember, you also can walk to MK in about 10 mins)or Poly would be my choice. VWL or AKL would be very nice as well. I agree with another poster, book BWV for entire 2 weeks, then switch at 7 mos to the other resort, just to make sure you have place to stay. 2 weeks at BWV aint bad:D

If you're doing a studio with TEENAGE GIRLS... A huge 440sq ft studio with 2 showers/bathroom areas might be really really nice. Thus, I recommend poly.

If you're looking for a bigger unit like a 1bd, the bay lake 1 bds are one of the bigger ones with two full bathrooms

I personally did not like AKV. Too far from the action(s). Plus very few eating choices and after a week you might want to pull your hair out bc you're relying on the Disney bus to get food, or you're stuck eating at one of four restaurants. That's assuming you don't have a car. We absolutely loathed the bus.

Ps. If you're staying 2wks, you may want to have a kitchen and your own laundry. Consider a 1bd, if you can, for at least a week.

I wouldn't do two weeks in studios with two teenaged girls. I'd get a one bedroom at a minimum. And preferably a one bedroom with two bathrooms (KV or BLT).

Thanks all - some great suggestions and feedback there.

@Pirate Granny - yes, I will book BWV for the two weeks initially (and, to be honest, won't be disappointed if we end up leaving it like that due to availability)

@Deb & Bill - don't worry we are used to staying in a single room - stayed in moderate resorts in recent years so this will be a bit of an upgrade! We don't really spend a lot of time in the room anyway, mainly to sleep / rest.

Looking at the suggestions I will narrow it down to Poly, VWL, SSR and AKV I think. Is there anywhere on line that I can easily show the resorts to my family so they can help me choose (preferably with photos as well as info)?

Thanks :)

I would maybe do a week and a half at BWV and then half a week at the end at AKL to sort of relax and unwind at the end of your trip.

Thanks. Yes, I was thinking maybe something along those lines as well, maybe something like 9 / 5 split.

Just be away that the sleeping arrangement is different than a moderate. Yes, there will be more space, but it will be in the bathroom and kitchenette. Moderates have two queen beds, but studios have a queen bed and full size sleeper sofa (except Poly which has a queen sleeper sofa). It's not quite the same as a moderate.

OK thanks. Which Studios have a "Murphy Bed". Will the newly refurbed BWV Studios have one? Thanks.

Right now, PVB, VGF, and VWL. I think BCV and BWV are supposed to be getting the Murphy bed, but no guarantees yet.
