OK, here's the deal.
I have stayed RPR Club many, many times.
Getting a suite on the Club floor has been one of the most elusive requests ever and has proven to be impossible, for me at least.
The King Suites used to be 3700 (overlooks the pool) and 3701 (overlooks the luau area). If there is now only 1 King Suite on the club floor, they have coverted one of them to a Kids Suite, which is going to make your chances of getting this even harder.
When they tell you it's going to cost extra per night on club, count on $100/night + tax extra.
Most importantly, they might want to give you a King Suite "with club access." With "club access" does not necessarily mean that you're going to be on the club floor. In fact, odds are REALLY high that you're NOT going to be on the club floor. They did this to me once. ONCE, for one night only, and I am proud to say that some of my feedback was taken into consideration when the RPR went through its half-baked idea of including the 6th floor when you booked club. It was a HORRIBLE idea. And they got rid of it not long after they did that to me.
When they give you club access, and you're not on the club floor (floor 7), it's a pain. #1 you need to carry an extra key card for access to the club floor. We found this to a pain in and of itself. You may not care, but we did. You need the extra card for 7th floor access in the elevator or the stairs. Everyone assigned to the 7th floor only has to carry one card. I think this is just dumb. #2 if you are not assigned to floor 7, you are taking a detour to use the club lounge. That means you have to get out your extra card, and go up at least one level (hopefully, they'll at least put you in Tower 3 .... it'll really be a hike if your King Suite is in Tower 1 or 2). It's not like the club lounge is near the lobby and on your way out, like at PBH. You're actually going out of your way to use the club lounge when you're assigned a different floor. Since we love the club lounge to grab water bottles on our way to the parks, we really found this a pain.
We are Platinum, stayed numerous times at RPR, and have finally given up on getting a suite on the Club Floor at RPR. If you have any luck, please let me know how you swung it.
I can tell you that when they had 2 suites on the club floor, we tried to book a KS on the club floor almost a year in advance and IN PERSON, over one of the slowest weeks of the year (right after Labor Day), and the suites were both booked, and they wanted to give me a King Suite on the 6th floor with club access even then.
I think you need to decide what's important to you and your hubby: club access or a King Suite. It seems at RPR, you can't have both, unless you want to be inconvenienced.
And this is why our last 3 and our upcoming 4th visits were at/will be at HRH ....
