OK I have 100pts to use before Oct 1st 2011 and we weren't planning a trip until Dec to DL so I'm thinking of taking two of our boys who's birthdays are in March and April and our oldest is turning 13 so I thought this might be a fun birthday surprise to take them to WDW. We are planning early March and staying maybe 4 days. I will have a 12 and 8 year old boy at the time and flying in from Seattle.

Where would you stay?? Would I need to rent a car or not? I'm hoping this will help us get a better feeling of the layout before we bring the whole family. We have 8 kids and I thought it would be easier to navigate WDW with only 2 kids and figure it all out.

We own at VGC.

I would pick a smaller resort like VWL, AKV Jambo or BCV. If you're going to stay in WDW, you don't need a car because Disney provides Magical Express to bring you from and back to the airport.

I really enjoy bike riding through the wooded area between VWL and Fort Wilderness. Then riding around the campground is an adventure in itself. If the boys would like to there are trail rides, very mild that they could go on.

Hurry to see what's available because you are well into the 7 month booking and you may be limited as to what you can get. The CM's in all of the resorts are very helpful, and once you get set in a resort, ask lots of questions here. You all should have a great time!

Yes, you are already less than 7 months out from your trip and might have difficulty with Easter and Spring Break times.

OK so I called and there were no studios left for BCV but there were some at the BWV. The member services person thought that would be best since our friends are staying at BCV. We are planning March 2-7. Is this a good choice??

Yes that is a good choice, and if it is available I would get it before it's gone.

i have done what you propose with each of my 3 kids, some on a total surprise driven to the airport with no idea where they were going! it should be the easiest to get a reservation @OKW and it will use the least points. i would go to all of the parks and let them scope out a touring plan as long as you have done some basic research yourself. may want to check the unofficial guide to WDW.
