First time to Florida/Disneyworld/Wilderness lodge

Oh My Gosh I'm so excited!!!

I have been dreaming of a Disney World trip since I was a little girl (38 years young now) and over the weekend was suprised with an 8 day trip for our Honeymoon!!

We will be staying at the Wilderness Lodge from Dec 11-18th and have a courtyard room.

Is it worth the upgrade to a Honeymoon suite? What are the perks in doing so?

Does anyone have any suggestions as to what restuarants we should not miss or activites outside of the parks. We are like two big kids in a candy store right now!!

We are not into fancy fancy (Vic & Al's) but more the simple type who like a little "bang" for our buck.

I absolutely love this forum and have been trying to get through as many pages as I can so please bear with me in the weeks to come if I ask to many questions

you will love the wl. when you check in make sure to ask if there are any openings to be the flag family, you get to go up on the roof and the views are great! I'm 38 also, married 12 years and never been on a honeymoon yet - hmmm maybe I'm overdue!

Good Food: Flying Fish, LTT(Lunch), Konas, Yachtsmans St, Le Cellier, Mitoskoshi Teppanyaki, Mama Melrose, Brown Derby

Fun Activities:
You might want to consider the Candlelight Processional Dinner Pkg one night. The show at Epcot is the best WDW show and you get a choice of restaurants as well as a merchandise discount for the evening.
Osbourne Lights at the Studios.
Yultide Tour: Fun tour that visits three of the theme parks & xmas warehouse, history of the various holidays and behind the scenes tour of how they decorate WDW & DC.
MK Flag Ceromony & Tree lighting, 5pm daily in Town Sq.
A couples Spa Treatment at the GF spa. A Fireworks cruise for two.

You sound like my sister and her husband -- BIG Wilderness Lodge fans, by the way, who love horses and the outdoors. They have no patience for anything too fussy, and they LOVED dining at Artist's Point. (In fact, I think they ate there just about every night!)

Me, I love their signature dish, the salmon. Go for it!

I'd also recommend visiting Whispering Canyon for a sizzling skillet of stuff for breakfast. It's all you can eat, and you'll want to eat all you can. It's great fun.

Take a tour of WL with Ranger Stan. Attend MVMCP one evening. It takes an extra ticket for this event. Take time to look at the Christmas decorations. WL is lovely all of the time and even lovelier at Christmas. I can't comment on upgrading to the honeymoon suite. If you receive the Travel Channel, they will feature WL on Oct. 7 at 11:00 am central time.

I have a friend who honeymooned in DW. Best advice...tell EVERYONE you are honeymooning! She said people went out of their way to do little "extras'" for them. You will love the WL. We are thinking of staying there on our next trip. I personally am interested in a view of the water...and no, I wouldn't upgrade. Think of how long you really will be in your room, as opposed to spending your money on SO many other things. Congratulations!!!!!!!!!

Go to the Osbourne Lights right as Fantasmic starts - the crowds AFTER Fantasmic are quite big - but during it you practically have it to yourself. You'll be there during a GREAT time of the year as far as not having to worry about crowds most of the time.

Any of the sit-down restaurants in the parks and resorts EXCEPT for V&A are fine for not having to worry about how you're dressed. As far as just plain fun, my favorite is Prime Time at MGM - just go along with the theme and you'll have a great time. Do one character meal - they're really fun. One of our favorites is the Grill at "The Land" in Epcot -and a lesser known one as far as less crowded is at the Liberty Tree in MK.

Congratulations - It sound's like you're prepared to have a wonderful time - and that's the best tip anyone could give you!

Go to Fort Wilderness and take a hay ride or carriage ride. They also have the best buffet deal in whole park -- Trails End Buffet. Good stick to your ribs meal with good prices.

You've been given great advice. There is so much to see and do. Try the Passporter for information on WDW. http://passporter.com/. I find it to be great on the resorts and parks. Still use mine after 2 years.
