In the beginning of May I found out that my brother who lives overseas will be in San Diego for a few days in June. I have not seen him in a long time so I booked the trip and included a couple of days before to see DL. I will be going by myself.

Not a week after the trip was booked I hurt myself in work. I have SI joint pain and nerve pain in the left thigh. I went thru physical therapy but with only one week out I have finally accepted I will not be able to do the park as I would like. I am a rope drop to "please leave, cast members want to go home at some point" type of person. Add to that I hate attention of any sort. Disney in an ECV is, to be a little over dramatic, my worst nightmare.

Question time. If I am physically able can I park the ECV for short periods of time and wait in the lines normally? I can stand with minimal pan for 20 min or so. I think I could do this untill the afternoon when I will be pretty much forced to use the chair full time. Can I stash it in stroller parking? I've never been to DL and can honestly say I never even paid attention in WDW.

I really want tour the park 'normally' at least for a little bit. :sad1:

Disneyland is pretty great about accessibility and have special access lines for those who need them. Not entirely sure how you go about getting the process started but I am sure somebody on here will chime in soon enough.

Hi! Sorry you are dealing with medical blah!

My mom has mobility issues and we took her to Disneyland in October. Like I suspected - It was a wonderful travel experience. It's such an ADA friendly place. We rented outside the park at a place I found on DIS called Deckart surgical and medical. Under $40 a day.

My mom was in the scooter 24/7 except rides and bathroom.

But I have plantar fasciitis - after walking miles and miles for 2 days (even with a steroid shot before the trip) my foot was hurting. My family was going to the Halloween party thing - and my mom was staying back at the hotel. My family insisted that I take the scooter. I fought - but lost. It ended up being great.

I did what you are talking about doing. I parked it in a land, and did rides in that land, leaving it parked in the stroller area (taking the key with me). There were other scooters there too.

I used it to travel the long distances between lands, but would park it walk around.

Hope this helps.

A few years ago when I first started needing a scooter, I would do this frequently. (Now, unfortunately, I spend 90% of my time in the parks in the chair). Quite a few people do this, so don't worry!

Hope you have a great trip!

Hey OP. I like to park my scooter at the exit end of the ride. <out of the way of course> grab my cane, go to the entrance and whene i"m done with the ride, my trusty steed is waiting right there for me. have fun

Thank you. It makes me feel better to know I won't have to be chained to the thing all day. As of right now I feel confident I can do a few hours on my feet with breaks. Thankfully as soon as I sit down 90% of the pain goes away. It's back just as bad when I stand up but I know I'm luckier than most in that way. I'm also planning to talk to my doctor about something for pain management. I'm hoping that might get me a bit more time on my feet. So far I have turned down anything with enough kick to make me the slightest bit loopy.

Thanks again for the reassurances. I feel ridiculous being this upset over something so small in the grand scheme of things.

Get the "loopy" meds to help you sleep at night!
That way you'll have it when you need it.
If you are able to rest at night, your days will be more enjoyable.

Enjoy the visit with your brother.
