We are going 4/19-4/26 with DD11 and DD3 and we are very excited. We have never gone west of West Virginia! I was wondering:

What rides are closed and is the castle covered up?

I want to go to San Diego for one day. Is the zoo the best bet if I want to return the same day? Can I squeeze in something else?

How do we see the Hollywood sign?

Thanks

We just came back from our first DL trip. The castle is uncovered, which was a relief for me. The rides that were closed were Splash, Jungle Cruise, Space, DL Railroad and Walt Disney Story and Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln.

It didn't seem too bad though because there were alot of other rides that were different from WDW, so they took up the slack. I imagine some of those will be open by the time you visit. I heard Space is reopening in May.

Can't comment on San Diego, but the Hollywood sign is straight in front of you if you go down Beachwood Dr. in Hollywood. You can get a great shot of the sign. :sunny:

About San Diego - the zoo is huge, so it will take you all day, but its worth it to go and see. You perhaps could squeeze in a short visit for dinner somewhere else in San Diego as well, although it would be a long day. I live 10 miles south of Anaheim and when we go to the zoo we normally combine it with dinner/shopping at Horton Plaza, a shopping mall in downtown San Diego (leave the house at 7, zoo from 9-4ish, dinner from 5-7ish, home by 9PM.) So you could squeeze in something else if you wanted it to be a long day. Sea World is also down there and worth considering, although if you have been to the one in Orlando I would recommend going to the zoo instead.

As of right now the Disneyland website has the following listed as down:
Casey Jr. Circus Train
Jungle Cruise
Storybookland Canal Boats
Space Mountain
Walt Disney Story Lincoln Theater

If you go to Disneyland.com and plug in your dates you can keep up with hours, closures and show times. Have a great visit on your first trip out west!
