We are planning a trip to Aulani in Feb 2015 and plan on spending a few days in California beforehand. We will be spending at least 1 day at Disneyland maybe 2. We have never been there before. Trying to figure out where we might want to eat. Need advice from people who have been there. What are you favorites? It will be my husband and I and another couple. No kids. One thing I do need to know is what restaurants are well lit? My husband is legally blind and can see very little if the lighting is not good. Please tell me what restaurants are well lit and have good food. Thanks

Avoid Blue Bayou for sure. Beautiful atmosphere, but very dark.

We enjoyed Carthay Circle, that might work better for you. Mention your concerns when you make your ADR (if you call) and again when you arrive.

Unless you're seated outside, I wouldn't say any place in DLR is well lit. I guess Plaza Inn is pretty bright. Cafe Orleans has outdoor seating and some of the indoor seating is near the open doors to the outdoor seating area.

One of my favs at Disneyland is the Carnation Cafe at the end of Main Street. The food is really good. It's a great breakfast place and at that time of day, it is very well lit with lots of natural sun light. Just a nice relaxing place to sit and watch the people go by while you enjoy a yummy meal.

At California Adventure, Wine Country Trattoria is good if you go during the day. It is outside or patio seating and has a more adult-ish atmosphere. Carthay Circle outside patio seating is nice as well. If you sit outside during parade time, you get a nice view from above. If you are looking for something more casual, the Paradise Garden Cafe (Mediterranean) with Pasta/Pizzaria on the side is good with a nice outdoor seating area with live music daily. The Cove Bar (next to Ariel's Grotto) is an outdoor snack/bar with a great view of Paradise Pier. They have a good BBQ chicken pizza and lobster nachos as well as nice mixed drinks. If you are staying for dinner, I think Flo's Cafe would be the most lit indoor restaurant.

I feel like California Adventure has a more relaxed and modern atmosphere when it comes to eateries than Disneyland. But if you are headed to Disneyland only, I think the best choice for well-lit eating is the outside patio of Plaza Inn. They have a really good fried chicken and the cobb salad is pretty good too. Someone else mentioned Carnation Cafe, which would also have good food and outside seating.
