First time to Disneyland, how busy is the end of June?

Hi, we've been to WDW numerous times and are planning a weekend trip to Anaheim to watch some baseball, and figured we would add 2-3 days on at the end of our trip for Disneyland. We usually got to WDW in May so crowds aren't too bad but just how busy is it the week before July 4th? We'll be there Sunday evening, Monday and Tuesday. Thanks!

We were there last year from June 28 - July 5. The early part of the week wasn't horrible, but definitely busy. It seemed to get busier as July 4th approached. The strategy that works for us is to get there at opening and have a plan of where you're going to go first that day. One day, we headed directly to the Adventureland area for Indy, Pirates and HM. Another day we headed to Tomorrowland for Space, Nemo and Buzz. On our early entry day, we went to Fantasyland for Peter Pan, Mr. Toad, etc. Start collecting Fast Passes right away and get them early for Splash, Space and Indy since they go so quickly. Get more Fast Passes as soon as you're allowed. We like to go on rides all morning and collect Fast Passes along the way. Later into the day and evening when lines are long and Fast Passes are running out, we use the ones we collected earlier in the day.

It will be busy but definitely doable if you have a plan.:)

If you are talking about June 27-29 the reality is that DLR will likely be massively crowded. Up through July 2.

To understand why start with the first two posts in this thread: "Understanding AP Blockouts and Impact on Crowds" http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2365983

I would say go and be prepared. Be very prepared. If you use good touring strategies and make a good hotel choice (one close to DLR) you will have a blast.

FWIW, last year the blockouts went into effect more like June 25-28 so you were probably after the blockouts. This year the blockouts are later. So comparing last year during those dates to this year is apples and oranges. :)

If I'm understanding correctly.....June 23rd through the 26th is blocked out and shouldn't be massively crowded....maybe just majorly crowded. Our days are pretty flexible so I'm trying to pick the best possible time.

You are catching on. :)

I would say June 23-26 would be decent days to go to DLR. Just to keep things twisty and turny, June 24 is grad night FYI. See "The Scoop on Grad Nights at DLR in May and June" - www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2298400
