Hi there. I'm very excited to report that we've booked a trip. We're loyal YC/BC fans but with the Labor discount of $99 per night, we couldn't resist booking the Swan. I know we'll miss Stormalong Bay, but for $99 a night I can't complain. We love the Epcot resort area so we'll be happy.

We're going 8/30 - 9/3 and then going to Vero Beach 9/3 - 9/6.

Swan Question - we've got a lake view. Can anyone help me with making a room request. We'd like to have a balcony - do all rooms have balconies? We'd like to be able to see fireworks if possible. Just give me some ideas on how/what to request for a nice room. Can't wait to try the Heavenly bed.

What's the pool like? Convince me it's just about as good as Stormalong Bay. I'm afraid I'll have withdrawals.

Thanks everyone.

My parents took us to BC every year but when the Swan/Dolphin started offering great deals we couldn't resist and we haven't turned back. We love the resort. The staff is phenomenal and the ammenities at the resorts are amazing. We love the Epcot resort area and can still take advantage of the restaurants at the YC/BC and Boardwalk. The Grotto pool is good; we loved Stormalong Bay though. Seating is better at the Grotto and it does have a water slide. I am not a good judge of the pool thing though because I went to Stormalong bay as a child and I go to the Grotto as an adult with a young toddler.

As for rooms, I think we were in 528 when we had a view of the Epcot Ball. There is a whole wing of rooms with views of Epcot, staying at the 5th-7th will ensure you a good view. Honestly though we never sat on our balcony to watch the fireworks. If we were at the hotel we always walked around the lake to watch them. We only used our balcony when our son was napping.

Hey PamNC! I'm doing the same as you - Swan 8/31-9/6! I also had the same questions. This will be my 2yr old dd's first trip. What's even more ironic is that I only live about 15 minutes from Winston-Salem!! Enjoy your trip!!

Flynnmnstr! That's very encouraging.

I wonder how many others out there are/were YC/BC fans and have tried the Swan or Dolphin and been pleasantly surprised??? Maybe that's a new thread, but I'll ask it here.

Wow! Neighbors! Were your green ribbon or your Home Depot mickey head.

Actually, last year we moved to Mocksville, NC (Davie County...about 20 minutes west of Winston). Moved out to the country. We absolutely love it. Where do you live? Do you drive to Disney or fly? We usually drive, it's only 8 1/2 - 9 hours.

PamNC--Send your request from the swandolphin.com website under the special request section. It may be a little difficult because of the special they have going on. You may have a little extra pull if you join starwood preferred guest at spg.com and have your spg number added to your reservation.

You will love the Swan!!!

I actually live in a small town in Stokes County called Walnut Cove. It's about 15 minutes north of the "big city". This trip will be myself, mom and 2 year old daughter. We're driving to Raleigh and flying Southwest because we got the roundtrip flight for $80 a piece. Can't beat that!!

I'll be sure to have the ribbon on! It's such a small world!!

Hey Fellow Disers. :)

I'm going to be at the Swan for Labor Day Weekend too. Its our first stay there.
I got a deal through Dreams Unlimited back in March. $125 a night for Club Level room. We are very excited about going down.

We'll have to wear our lime green ribbons. :teeth:

This is our last trip on our Annual Passes before they expire in Oct. I have never gone to Disney so much in one years time (This will be trip #4). I certainly got my money worth out of my passes.

Has anyone used Camp Dolphin with a 10 year old boy? My mother and I are going to go to Jellyrolls on Sunday night, and we are planning on leaving my son at Camp Dolphin. Reading their website I think he will have a good time but any opinions would be welcome.

Thanks!!

How early should you make a request at the Swan? Is it the same as the Disney resorts where 4 days is the time, or should you do it when you book?

Oh - I know exactly where Walnut Cove is. We actually looked there when we were looking for a farm. It's lovely up there - near Hanging Rock. We ended up buying an old Federal Historic House built in 1885 and 7.5 acres in Davie County - which is great for us because it's on the west side so it's a 30 minute drive for me to get to Downtown Winston for work.

$80 is a great rate. That's worth the drive to Raleigh.

See ya' with your ribbon on.
