Well I made our first "Home" trip for October, 2005 at SSR. We are planning on getting a studio for me & DH, DS (5) and DH's niece (14). Is this a mistake having 4 of us in a studio?? Wanted to save points to get a larger place next year.

Studios are a little larger than an average hotel room and come with the kitchenette (microwave, fridge and sink). I think if you have ever taken a family trip and stayed in just one room you will be fine, just remind yourself that you are saving for next time, because after you stay in a 1 bedroom or larger it is hard to go back to those studios :)

We had 4 in a studio over New Years, including 2 teenage girls. Size-wise it was big enough for us, but after one day all the clean towels were used. You can call for more towels but I think Disney charges $6.00 for the priviledge, not a bank breaker but still. ..

Next time, I plan on reserving 2 studios so there are only 2 people per bathroom.

You'll find 1 queen size bed and a sleep sofa in the studio. As long as you can make that work, you'll be fine. DVC does not provide extra bedding or rollways/cots. Some bring along an aero bed if sharing beds is a problem.

Best wishes -

We usually stay in a studio with 2 ds 15 and 9. We find that it is big enough for us :earboy2: :earboy2: and the frig and microwave come in handy. Would love to stay in a 1 bedroom, but the incentive of an extra trip makes it worth it!!

you can easily wash the towels in the laundry room.

just be sure to bring your own detergent and fabric softernor - WDW is expensive....

I just have to ask this question....how do people go through so many towels on each visit. I know kids are 'lazy' about hanging their towels up after using them. Is that the issue? Since you are using the towels after you shower/bath you should be clean. So, the towels would be wet but not dirty. I'm assuming this. We just hang up our towels after we use them and they are fine to reuse.

I'm not trying to start a 'discussion' here. I ask because when we were at BWV in Nov we overheard someone at the pool saying 'Bring that towel back with you. The room towels are dirty and we can't get new ones everyday here!' Just curious I guess. So, what do the rest of you do as far as towel usage goes.

BTW...we love the studios. Dh, dd,11 and I could be very happy in them forever if it weren't for that snoring issue!!!

Thanks everyone. Maybe we will survive in a studio and will keep thinking about next year being able to get a bigger place. The snoring might be a problem, which I had not thought about. My son is used to the noise but not sure about niece. Oh dear.

The BWV studio has a small upholstered bench which kind of looks like a small daybed. We put sheets etc. on it because our DD 5 loves to sleep there. Might be an option for you-though I'm not sure if the furniture at SSR is the same.

The question you might want to ask is how comfortable is your niece with your family? Will she (as a 14 yr old) need a little extra privacy? The studio will give her none. She won't have a private dressing area as the bathroom is rather small (tub/toilet area). We took our 15 yr old niece along with our 9 yr old son in a one bedroom and it was tolerable. She had some privacy as she could use the bathroom area to dress away from the rest of us (larger bedroom in the one bedroom).

By the way, that upholstered bench in the BWV is only in the Studio Plus (not able to be requested, just a luck of the draw). They call it a daybed, but it is not even close to a day bed like they have at the Polynesian.

You may want to consider a one bedroom instead of a studio.
