We leave in just over 60 days (YAY).

Quick question: how early can we put room requests in?

nice to hear!
Where will you be staying?

Are you prepared for FP+ bookings at your 60 day-mark?

For room requests, just call the general reservation line. But do not be too specific with your request.

I love Onsite! You can call with your requests, as others have indicated, but again try not to make too many. If you want to share your resort with us, some folks might be able to tell you where they like to request and why.

Also if you do make more than one, be sure that you prioritize them. Like "The highest priority is X. Then Y. Than Z." Otherwise the room assigners will not know which is more important and you might get your third preference when your first was available but the assigner didn't know that was more important.

Does that make sense?

Or none because the assigner had no idea what you really wanted, nothing looked like it matched, and then gave up.

That too. :) I was being "optimistic" and going for best-of-worst-case with getting choice number 3.

I will say sometimes even prioritizing doesn't help. I remember a couple of years ago when I was running the Goofy Challenge I was staying at CBR. I made it clear that my first request - and most important - was Barbados because I have zero issues crossing the lot from Old Port Royale to get there, thus not having to deal with the internal shuttle. Far down the list was upper floor, corner room. I also know that Barbados is pretty much the least requested "island" because other than OPR nothing is a "close" walk (living in NYC where I do walk all over, NOTHING at any Disney resort is a "long" walk for me).

Imagine my surprise when I got there and found I'd been assigned Jamaica 45 - probably the MOST requested building. It was late and I didn't feel like waiting for them to call someone (the one thing that bugs me with Disney resort front desk - the agents have no power to make any changes but have to call a room assigner (or I suppose a supervisor if the assigners have left) to do anything...other hotels the desk agents have the power to make a change on their own), so I took it. But I can't help but feel like someone didn't hear or note my request the right way. That's where having the ability to fax a request in like we used to was helpful. You could prioritize in your own words and make it clear.

I am no optimist when I try to tell folks to be careful with room requests. It seldom goes well if they include everything that they read on the DIS as great locations. I especially cringe when someone requests a specific room. The assigner has no idea why. Is it nostalgia? Location? View? Window placement? Who knows?

I try to make one request if it matters to me. For instance, I really want a balcony at the Beach Club this trip. It was my only request. I still may not get one, but I wanted to increase my small odds buy not adding anything else.

When we want connecting rooms that is usually my only request. It matters, so I do not want to muddy the waters by adding location, floor, patio vs balcony.

Very true.

Also, do not include negative requests, ie, "not in (building)." They get hundreds of requests and they skim. They will see (building) and you may very well get it.

I am prepared for fast pass + reservations.

We are staying at SSR. I plan on requesting an odd numbered room in either the paddock or grandstand area.
