First time staying at the DL Hotel.... I have questions

I have never been able to afford to stay at the Disneyland hotel, but I am going to a conference being held in the hotel on Saturday so they are paying for a room. I understand I can get into the park early one day? what day is it and how does that work? what is the best way to get from the hotel to the park? anything else I need to know? tips tricks????

How fun for you, I hope you love it as much as I do. You can take the monorail or walk to the gate. Early entry is for all days you are staying that it is offered. If you are going to early morning you will want to walk to the gate, you will get to the rides quicker. Steakhouse 55 is very good for dinner and stop by trader sams have a great time

You can take advantage of Extra Magic Hour every day, including check-in and check-out days. One park always opens an hour early. Walk through Downtown Disney to the main park entrances. The Monorail station is near DLH, but generally not very useful at park opening.

No matter how early you check-in, you will receive your room key. DLH will call (or text) when your room is ready.

well I just read that Sunday is the CHOC Walk so MM is at 9... can I take the monorail to get in early or do i have to fight the mobs at the gate. I heard it was bad on CHOC Walk days

With your room key and park tickets, you can take the monorail anytime the park is open. However the line moves much slower there, so early mornings it is usually faster to walk on to the main gate (even if it is crowded as well). You can also use the entrance to DCA in the Grand Californian, but there is the same problem there, only one gate, so it can get very crowded.
