First time staying at BCV...

Hi,

I was hoping someone could help me. My family will be staying at the BCV in April and I was planning on doing online check-in a few days before we leave and put in a request for a room location.

I am completely unfamiliar with BCV. So, where would be a good place to request a room? Near the pool? Epcot view?

There are no great views at BCV so I never request one.

The resort is small so I never request close to elevator.

Pool view will also get you parking lot view.
Epcot view will also get you a service road view.

The only request I ever make here is that I do not want be on ground floor.

Gosh, I don't remember this at all!! We were there in June. I had requested a higher floor. I LOVED our room location!! Ours was a one bedroom that overlooked the pool and was near the end of the corridor. We would go down that "back" elevator and out the door and it was an easy walk over to the bus stop.

Maybe I don't really remember what was out there beyond the pool because it was June and HOT -- not much sitting out on the balcony during June.

I'm excited for you! It was our first stay in a BC villa, and we really loved it.

I have stayed at BCV about 30 times. I agree there are no spectacular views. Personally I prefer the pool view, I would rather watch people than trees grow, although some of the woods views will allow you to see some of the higher fireworks from Epcot, particularly from the upper floors.
Don't worry about seeing the parking lot from the pool view it's hardly noticeable and then only a small portion. If you like to leave your balcony door open, it can get a bit noisy at night, they do not shut the pool lights off at night, so if you want it dark you'll have to close the drapes. I have seen people in the pool and spa till 3am.
You can also see the MK fireworks from the 4th and 5th floors on the pool side, albeit from long distance.

If you ask for an Epcot view, the CM at MS will tell you that doesn't exist. If you say woods view, you might get the Epcot view, but you might get a view of the trees and the sound of the fireworks without seeing them. If you look beyond the pool, the parking lot will be there. But it's fairly easy to overlook the parking lot and just see the pool.

BCV isn't really known for its views. What I like is that I can decide to head to Epcot around 8:50 to see Illuminations and be back in bed by 9:30.

Ask for a pool view and second floor room if possible. If you get a higher floor, the pool view won't be all that bad.

Do you have any thing you want? DH is a very light sleeper, so we want someplace quiet. We always request woods view, quiet area, and get the "jog" about half way down the hall if you get off the elevator and turn right (I think the rooms start with -39). It's a little walk to the elevators, but we figure it helps walk off all the extra calories (maybe we'd feel differently if we had kids or a stroller).

If you are by any chance getting a 2BR and are going to have a vehicle, we just stayed in 178 which is the last room at the end of the first floor on the pool side. from out our "porch" doors we could walk 50 feet to the pool, or go right and walk 15 feet to our car. Before anybody jumps on me for walking out the porch door and onto the grounds (I know this isn't allowed), we didn't trample anything, there are no shrubs at the end of the building.

When we returned to the villas we just cut through the reading room, past the pool and through the back door. It was very convenient.

Otherwise I echo the sentiment of other posters, there is not much to worry about b/c one view is really not much better than the next.

Stayed in a 2 BR Lockoff 3 weeks ago. 5th Floor. View was toward HS. Could see France at Epcot if I leaned way over the balcony rail. I was disappointed in the size of the 3 balconies (one for each room.) My brother and sister-in-law were with us and we could not seat all four of us together on any of the individual balconies. My wife and I stayed in a 1 BR on the second floor facing Epcot during a previous trip and found the balcony ran the entire length of the unit. I would request the second floor next time.

I agree with all the above!!! too.

Also, it just depends on your mood for your vacation. Last October, I didn't want to be bothered by all those vacationing disney folks using the elevator...So, I asked for Upper Floors away from Elevator.
Ps. This had it's own advantage, we were so far down the hallway that we were closer to a stairwell than the elevators. Typically, we would take the stairs down (convenient going to the parks) and the elevator back when we were so tired from walking all day.

It was just a little longer walk, but we didn't have to listen to people's conversations at 12am coming back from EMH!

On the flip side, three years ago we requested near elevator upper floors. We got a handicap room studio smack dab next to the elevator bank. It was extremely handy and the room was a little bigger than a typical studio because of being HC marked. The bathroom was very large and so was the Foyer.

All-in-All....it's not that bad....for privacy request Upper Floors away from Elevator or Upper Floors/Elevator for convenience.

There is no Illuminations view to request. The best you can do is request the woods view. And you might be able to see the high fireworks and some of the lights around the buildings. But you might also just get the woods and the sounds of the fireworks.

So, for 2 bedroom dedicated (not 2 queens) should I request 2 floor for big balcony?

Unfortunately, we are not owners at BCV. Some of the pros on the board may have more info. When we stayed in the 1BR on the 2nd floor our balcony ran the entire length of the unit. We did walk around the BVC structures and noticed that the 2nd floor balconies seemed to be continuous with dividers between units. Some of the other floors had the same configuration but were only a few rooms long. We did notice some 2BR Dedicated balconies that ran the length of the unit (Bedroom-Family Room-Bedroom). I recall telling my wife that these units would be great for family gatherings.
