My family of 3 is starting to plan our 2016 trip to Disney and we are looking into possibly renting from a DVC Member. This is my first time attempting this as we'd like to stay on grounds this time around (we went last year and stayed in a beautiful condo off grounds with my parents.)

How do I go about finding someone to rent from? I'm OK with even just a studio room, as it is only the 3 of us anyway. I

Thank you in advance for anyone's help or advise on how I go about doing this.

:-)

You either need to contact a broker who will have that type of information on their clients, or you will have to dig through the rent/trade board to see what you can find. Rental requests are not allowed.

FYI: you don't really need home resort advantage for AKV unless you want a value or club room.

However if you would only be happy with Jambo and not Kidani, then I would work with an owner with AKV home resort because Jambo will fill up much faster than Kidani.

For the time of year you want, you should be looking to make the reservation with the 11 month window from a home resort owner even for AKV standard and savanna view which have at least some risk of filling before the 7 month window. The last quarter of the year is a high DVC demand time and early November is very high, particularly if running into the Thursday to Saturday of the weekend that has the Wine & Dine half marathon, when even SSR has disappeared for one of the nights before 7 months out, the only time it has done so during any year except for some New Year's Eves.

To find an owner who will rent on this site, you need to go to the rent/trade board (visible as a choice only if you are signed in to this site) and find and contact an owner who may want to rent points from the resort you want. You should be looking for that possible owner by early to mid November because best will be to make he reservation 11 months out in late Novemeber. Another option is David's, a rental broker, whom you can find here dvcrequest.com

Do not rent an RCI trade. Usually they are a fixed week stay with a $95 fee to be paid at check on. You'll find them on ebay and other locations. But not on the DIS.
