I am new to the points rental idea. I'm learning as I go. I notice that you can rent them, I assume a transfer wouldn't apply since I am not a DVC member?

AM I able to rent points from multiple people to use for one reservation? I sort of think maybe not, since the DVC member has to do the reservation?

I love the idea of the villas. My main concerns are distance, transportation, distance to the pools, and where we could (if we wanted to buy them) refill our refillable mugs? My husband loves the mugs and hates walking forever to fill it.
He is just as happy going to ASmo where everything is compact (including us in the room!) THe important things to him is distance to the refill station and distance to the bus stop to get to the parks.

Any resort really would be fine, but I do love the SSR Treehouse villas!...what would be the best for those 2 points above?

If you are not a member, points are worthless to you. You couldn't do anything with them. The member has to make the reservation with their points, you pay them for the reservation and they put your name on it. Until you check in, you can't call about it, add to it, make a request, etc. Nothing. The member has to do everything. It doesn't become yours until the moment you check in. And if you have any problems Disney will not get involved in any way.

The THV are very far from any mug refilling station. I don't think there is one at the Grandstand, so you'd have to go to Artist's Palette or the Paddock pool area. THV also has no direct buses to the parks. You either take a bus from the THV to the Grandstand or walk to the Grandstand and catch a theme park bus from there. There are other bus stops on the property at SSR.

You are right a transfer is not something you could do. We rented points from a member the year before we bought in. Kind of a try before you buy thing. We have also rented points out to people when we couldn't go. Renting from multiple people would mean multiple reservations. The only way to get multiple reservations all together is if they have the same contract number, which being from different people they would not. Usually that isn't an issue unless you are taking a pretty big vacation that is more pts than the typical member has on hand.

As far as your second question, THV is pretty much the opposite of everything you described as things you were looking for in a villa. For distance, transportation, and pools your best options are Beach Club, Bay Lake, and Boardwalk. I would say Boardwalk typically has the most availability of those three but they are all pretty busy. Beach Club has what most consider the best pool and location. It is pretty difficult to reserve without 7 months notice. The best resort we have had for the refillable mug was Kidani. It doesn't match up with your distance or transportation that great though. It could be the best with a rental car though because of the seclusion and covered parking.

Hope this helps

It is possible to rent points from multiple members, but it would probably be more trouble than it's worth. (For both you and the members.) Each member would have to book a certain number of points, then they'd have to call Member Services together and ask that the reservations be linked. You're better off finding someone who can book the entire reservation for you.

The THV are a great place to stay -- we love them. However, they don't seem to fit real well with your husband's primary desires. There is a drink refill station in the Grandstand section, but that's still a pretty good hike. It's also only open during the hours that the bar is open. Others are located at the Paddock Pool, the High Rock Spring Pool, and Artist's Palette in the Carriage House. Artist's Palette is the only one that's open later at night.

Check out this post for my SSR FAQs. If you do choose SSR, it sounds as if the Springs would probably be your best fit.
