First Time on Property - A few Questions

We are staying on property for the first time ever in a few weeks. I have a few questions...

1. We need to complete check in. On the check in page (in MDE) it asks for payment info to cover costs while we are there. We plan on using MDE and our magic bands to pay for everything and charge to the room. However, we have Disney gift cards that we want to use. How can we make sure that our Disney gift cards are being used and not cash out of our bank?
2. We are in a split stay - 4 nights at YC and then 2 at Contemporary. Does this affect how we do payment, etc. ?
3. At the YC we are planning are doing laundry one day. I know there are machines, but how does it work? Do I need to have a ton of quarters ready to use? Do the washers and dryers have a scan button that I just charge it to the room? Can I bring my own tide pods to use or do I need to use their stuff?
4. On a split stay, confirming that I need to bring luggage to lobby of YC and pick up in lobby of Contemporary, correct? It doesnt go to the room, correct?

1. You can only have one form of payment on your band. So, it’ll be either the gift card or credit card.
2. This shouldn’t. As long as both stays are connected to your MDE.
3. Not sure, have never done laundry there!
4. Yes, correct. A few years ago, we did a split at Boardwalk and Polynesian and the bell service took our bags to the front of the Poly.

You cannot use a Magic Band to charge to a gift card. The MB charges to the room account. You can run to the desk to apply gift cards before you reach the charge limit at which they run your card.

We have done our laundry at a resort, you use your credit card and you can use your own soap and dryer sheets.

You will need to put the credit card info down in order to use the MBs for charging. A gift card can only be used either at POS or you can go to the front desk of your resort each night and pay-down the balance with the gift cards. Note that the initial $100 "hold" and any additional will be placed against your credit card on file, so if possible I recommend using a credit card rather than a debit card for this.

I did laundry at Yacht Club. You have to use a credit card for washer/dryer/soap. I don't know about tide pods and what their restrictions are if any.

The best way is to just use your gift cards at restaurants or gift shops instead of MBs to charge back to your room. I find it just as easy & the receipt will have the GC balance on it so you can keep track. Also, be aware there is an extra hold of $100 each time your credit card gets charged. Some people aren’t happy about that because it can take a few days to fall off which can cause some problems if you are running close to your credit limit. @EMHDad - You can monitor your laundry machines from your room at Yacht Club - use this website: Laundry View Just enter the name of your Resort Hotel (and pick the laundry room closest to you) to see the status of the machines.

If you want to use your gift card to pay, you'll probably want to stop at the front desk daily to pay off the charges. But they will still charge your credit card $100 even before you arrive.

Yes, just a hold. But some people have reported multiple holds being put on, because every time you reach a certain limit, your card gets charged & they place another hold on your card. So depending on your credit limit & how long it takes the hold to fall off, it could effect how much credit you have available. There is more info on the thread I linked above.

We always do laundry at GF and CR when we go to WDW. (Less luggage necessary if we do laundry.) I take Tide Pods in a baggie stuffed inside tennis shoes. They take up no space and are protected from being punctured.

Just adding on to YC laundry...

the laundry room adjacent to the admiral pool has 3 washers and 6 dryers. The inside laundry room (Also on the 1st floor and near the admiral pool) has 2 washers and 2 dryers. I did loads in each laundry room and preferred the extra counter space in the laundry adjacent to the pool.

HE tide pods are fine as only 2tbsp of detergent is recommended. Wash cycles are approximately 35 min and dryer cycle is 60 minutes.

Stormalong Bay is crazy quiet this week and the weather has been great!
