Hey all!
I'm a single mom and taking my girls next month by myself. I've always paid OOP (last trip was in Dec). I need clarification on the DDP. I got the basic plan for us.

For counter service meals, what does a meal entail?
For waitstaff meals (i booked T-Rex) do we get to pick whatever we want? Is an app included? Dessert? Can we get a "fancy" drink? ie. smoothie

I just feel like I don't really know what I'm doing and don't want to be fumbling around trying to order and juggle my daughters too.

I would SO appreciate y'alls expertise!
:confused3

For counter service you get an entree (can be a combo for example hamburger and fries) a dessert and a drink.

children must order off of the children's menu when it's available.

I've never eaten at T-Rex but generally for TS you do NOT get an appetizer. You get a main meal, a drink (many places will let you order a smoothie or a shake but you should ask when you order if it's covered by the plan) and a dessert

Hey all!
I'm a single mom and taking my girls next month by myself. I've always paid OOP (last trip was in Dec). I need clarification on the DDP. I got the basic plan for us.

For counter service meals, what does a meal entail? Entree or combo platter meaning the main item and any sides that are included in the description of the dish, dessert and a non-alcoholic fountain drink (such as soda, coffee, tea, lemonade)

For waitstaff meals (i booked T-Rex) do we get to pick whatever we want? You can order anything from the menu. None of the restaurants restrict any of the entrees or desserts. However, if an item is "for 2" you would need 2 adults to order it.

Is an app included? On the regular dining plan (1 CS, 1 TS, 1 snack per night) appetizers are not included. There are a handful of restaurants that have a prix fixe menu which includes an appetizer. If you choose this option you can order an appetizer from the choices included in the prix fixe.

Dessert? Yes.

Can we get a "fancy" drink? ie. smoothie Maybe. You are more likely to be able to choose a milk shake, smoothie (no refills usually) or a virgin cocktail at the Disney owned restaurants. The non-Disney owned places are much stricter because they are reimbursed by Disney according to the guidelines of the plan. If the server doesn't say anything about drinks, you can always ask.

I just feel like I don't really know what I'm doing and don't want to be fumbling around trying to order and juggle my daughters too.

My answers in red.

Also, here's a link to the dining plan pdf that lists the restaurants, plan info, etc:

For breakfast at CS you only get an entree and a beverage. No dessert. The same for TS meals. Of course the no dessert doesn't apply to buffets.

The no dessert at breakfast rule is one of the reasons many don't use a credit for breakfast.

You cannot order more than what is specified on your card though. If you are one adult with 2 children on the plan, you cannot order three adult counter service meals at the same time.

Also, remember tip is not included at the table service meals.

For future reference on this thread, please note that Disney asks specifically in their dining plan literature that guests order from the child's menu for children's credits, at locations that have a child's menu.

Because Disney is specific about this, it is the policy on the Restaurant boards to delete or close discussion of doing otherwise.

I agree, I just got back from Disney and I would save my credits for lunch or dinner, I didn't feel like I was getting as much for my money using the dining plan for breakfast
