First time offsite with FP+ and magic bands...???

How does this work? We are staying offsite this time, in January. How do we get magicbands and FP+ reservations?

We haven't bothered with Magic Bands when we stayed offsite but we did set up FP+. I ordered our passes directly through the Disney website and made sure that our passes were listed in MDE. We set up our FP+ at 30 days (per day of course) and received the plastic passes in the mail.

I have been playing with the website, just checking the 30 day fastpass availability because half of our next visit is offsite, and I'm pleased to say the other day when my 30 day rolled around, everything was available except A&E MSEP and 7DMT. Even Wishes and FoF parade were there, so good luck to you!

Magic Bands for off site must be purchased. You can get them in the parks and they will link them to your MDE account for you. They have a bit of a coolness to them (In my opinion) but they are certainly not required. On-Site guests, still don't NEED them, but with them connecting to Photopass, dining plan, room keys, charging privileges, etc, they are certainly much more useful for them.

I’m staying at our timeshare OP and just did our last FP+ last night.


We bought magic bands because we didn’t want to deal with carrying anything extra around and well, they’re cute anyways (I got a Tink one) and we wanted a 1st trip souvenir. Linked everything to it; park tickets, ADR, Xmas party. When you do your FP+ you have to do it every single night of your park visits. You don’t log on at one time and choose for the length of your stay. The calendar opens at 12am ET so you do it in your timezone. I am on central time so since last Friday night I have been logging on at 11pm sharp to get FP+ for the park 30 days out. It’s a hassle but it is all done.
