Well it's finally happened. With all the trips I've made to WDW, this October will be my first time at the Food and Wine Festival.

I know all about the special ticketed events. But exactly what can I expect "around the showcase" in terms of "tastings"? I think I read somewhere that each counry will have a "stand" of sorts where you can sample (for a price of course) different foods. Is this true?

Thanks....

There are extra kiosks from more countries than are usually showcased. Each one has 2 or 3 samplings and 1 or 2 beers or wines from that country. The prices can be as low as $1.50 to around $5. Some more expensive depending on what is in them. DH and I get 1 of what ever we want and share it. That way we can try out lots of things without getting too full. If we really like something a lot we can always get another 1 again later. They had Ireland, Puerto Rico, Africa and quite a few other extra countries. Of course the regular countries also have some offerings, too. We were there for the soft opening last year on what was supposed to be our last day of vacation. We added an extra day so we could be there for the official opening and not have to worry about driving drunk if we imbibed to much alcohol.

We will be there Sept. 24 thru October 1 this year and the W&F starts on Sept. 29 this year so we have at least 4 days we can get to EPCOT to see how much we can eat and drink.:rotfl: Can't wait! :cool1:

It's a lot of fun. I would suggest bringing a good amount of cash with you for your trip. I love to sample different foods and beverages of the alcoholic type, so I tend to burn through my funds. My wife and I really enjoyed it.

Here are the booths:
Argentina
Australia
Campania, Italy
Canada
Champagne
Chile
China
France
Great Beers
Greece
Hops & Barley
India
Ireland
Japan
Mexico
Morocco
New Zealand
Oktoberfest
Poland
Scandinavia
South Africa
Spain
Thailand
Turkey
USA
Wild & Wonderful Florida Shrimp

Most food is around $2-$3. It's a great way to try new foods and taste a bit of the world! All the booths are outside in the World Showcase and have maybe 2-4 items on the menu. It's a great way to spend an afternoon, strolling through WS and eating a bit here and there.

Have fun!

You are going to enjoy it! DH and I go every year and we sample just about everything except the wine (we are not big fans). The costs are about 2.50 to 4.00 per item. We like to make this our lunch. We get one or 2 items from each stand and share them. If we really like the item we get another one. This probably costs more than a sit down lunch but we love to do it!

We were planning to do this instead of having a TS lunch at Epcot. Figured our 2 DDs might be more entertained by staying outside. What are some yummy thing that you have had??

I went with girlfriends last year and we loved just sampling all the goodies. This year, I am going again and wondering which of the relatively (!) inexpensive ticketed events (i.e under $50) are worth the money. We were totally happy last year NOT doing any of the ticketed things but maybe I should plan something this time. Not all of the particulars are available yet for every event for my dates (Nov.1-4) so i am not sure i want to commit to an event when i don't know the format, menu, etc. Thanks.

We had BBQ Shrimp from Australia, Cheddar Cheese soup and maple fudge from Canada, this onion and potato tart in Spain, Lobster Corn Chowder and BBQ beef from USA, fantastic pasta with pancetta in Italy. Quiche in France. Sausage and sauerkraut and apple strudel in Germany. Kiwi roll in New Zealand. Delicious peach tea in China (avoid the chicken cha cha there...it was horrible). Potato leek soup in Ireland. So many good things, I cannot remember them all.

We are going for the first time too .. well, we hope to! I've got to get on the phone with DVC Member Services first thing in th morning!

So .. I'm bumping this for more info. Thanks for any help. :goodvibes

This will be our first one too, we usually miss it by about a week or so. Also, don't forget that you can use your snack credits from the free dining plan for the kiosks as well, we can't wait!

Thank you all for this wonderful information!!! I know all of us will have a great time!!! :thumbsup2
