Day 5 25th October
Thursday morning the last day of our holiday. Time for the awfully sad task of packing and checking out of our room. We managed it in time for our 7 oclock breakfast and then loaded up the car and headed off to the Park for some EMH.
Of course we started off with a double helping of Peter Pan and then a double Buzz before dtr went on Orbitron.
Husband decided to forego the pleasure of a last ride on IASW (I think he was worried about still having the tune going round his head when he got back to work!
) but dtr and I went round. Snow White was open so we all rode this. Then I took Husband and dtr in Salon Mickey for their first time they were very impressed with this and enjoyed the pastries and hot drinks.
We made a note in the visitors book before leaving.
Although it was our last day we didnt feel too bad as we all felt we had done so much on this holiday. We are not into Halloween but the decorations in the Park were so detailed you couldnt help but like it. You couldnt believe this was a temporary makeover for the Park; all the Halloween stuff looks permanent.
After our sit-down in Salon Mickey, we went in Frontierland for a final ride on Phantom Manor and a goodbye look round all the Halloween stuff. We went up into Adventureland and Husband and dtr rode Indiana Jones. I queued up with them for the first time so that I could see what the queuing area was like and watch the 360˚ loop scary! I was very glad to exit through the chicken door.
Then we did a last visit to my favourite POTC. The scary bloke stared at us as usual (you know the one I mean the bald one sitting next to the bridge in the scene where they are selling off brides. He looks down into the boat as it goes by and always seem to catch my eye.) We decided to visit The Storybook Boats & Casey Jnr one last time as they are usually closed when we visit in February, so this little area of the Park is usually deserted.
We then found a path we had never been on before we didnt know the gates next to IASW open to guests. We thought they were only there to let the Parade through.
We took a photo down there to show my son when we got home and see if he could guess where it was.
We walked through to Discoveryland and had a look at Nautilus. We had one last surprise for dtr before we went home we were having lunch at Café Mickey. She was thrilled at the chance of meeting more characters. I was a bit wary, as the last time we ate there the food was mediocre. My husband had not been with us so this was his first visit. I neednt have worried, as it was a really enjoyable occasion. I have written a report on the review thread, but I would say that dtr got plenty of attention from the characters and lots of hugs and thoroughly enjoyed herself.
Note the new POTC medallion!
Eventually though, it was time to go. We headed back to Sequoia Lodge to get in the car and wave goodbye to DLRP.
Our journey home was fairly uneventful we had hoped to get an early crossing, but all the earlier trains were full so we had time for a bit of early Christmas shopping before eventually crossing under the Channel. An hour and a bit later we were at home having a lovely cup of tea.
To anyone thinking of going at Halloween I would say go for it, without doubt. The weather was superb, the Park is open longer hours and the theming is fantastic. If you make use of EMH you can have long long days in the Park and the time of your life. We did.
