We will be flying first time with our 11m ds in 2 days and I amgoing crazy trying to decide what and how much to take on flight. Any advise is welcome.

We finaly decided to take the Graco stroller ( I just bought the Glider one for 40$) since it takes the Safeseat we have. The other option was the swift but I think it's not good enough for long trips.

Now for the food he is FF abd I bought the similac 8 oz bottles. Now I am second guessing if this is ok to bring on board. I am taking 3 of them. I ordered more from diapers.com and it's being shipped right now.

What about diaper cream ? My son has a very sensetive skin so I use Aquaphor Baby Healing Ointment. I don't have the trial size pack and I can't find it anywear? Can I bring the ussual pack?
What about water in the baby bottle?
Can I also have a small can of poweder formula ? We don't ussually use it but just in case (I still have the one from the hospital and it's still good)?
He also has baby food but he doesn't engoyes it :( so if he misses a meal he won't be complaining.
Is there restriction on putting food in checked in baggage?

I have ziplocks, his bottles, diapers, wipes, toys and 3 outfits for change in the list anything else?

Thanks

Worse comes to worse remember that they have water on the plane. (also you can buy bottles after you go through security)

This is what we did when we flew from Guatemala with our 7 month old.
We took those prepackaged single servings of formula. We were allowed to take 1 bottle of unopened water with us.
They gave us more water on the plane. Have them give it to you before you need it so it becomes room temp. I also think they warmed it up for us but now I can't remember.

I can't remember about the diaper cream.

You can put food in checked bags. It is not a problem

A site you can go on where people are talking about traveling with babies A LOT is adoption .com in the forums for any of the international adoptions. There are many discussions about this and it can be very helpful.
There is also some more info on this in past threads on this board.:)

How long is the flight? Can he do without the diaper rash ointment for that amount of time?

It seems the rules for liquids/gels are pretty arbitrarily applied; you may breeze through at one airport only to be held up at another. It's probably safest to take powdered formula in your carry on, buy bottled water to mix with once through security, and check the ointments etc. with your checked luggage.

I guess it depends on how long your flight is. We just flew with our almost 6 month old and our flight was 2.5 hours. We only brought the backpack diaper bag and had about 14 diapers, wipes, 3 outfits, a few toys and books, a blanket and a burp cloth. In our ziplock bag I had Tylenol and hand sanitizer. DD is breastfed so no food or bottles necessary. We had more than enough stuff.

Diaper cream is supposed to be less than 3oz. to bring on the plane (unless you have a doctor write a "prescription" for it). If you need it on the flight and can't find a travel size, you could put some in another travel size container that is labeled as less than 3 oz. and put it in a ziplock.

Powdered formula and baby food are not considered liquids/gels.

Water in a baby bottle seems to really depend on what the TSA allows.

I think chances are VERY high that they will let you bring 3 bottles of premade through.

Remember to declare everything as you're going through. Try not to be concerned. Some people do have trouble, unfortunately, but the majority of people breeze through just fine. The only time I have ever had a problem was the very 1st day the ban was in effect and things were kind of unclear.

We have been flying with our childrens since our oldest DD (now 9) was only months old. Before we take trips, I always as the doc. for samples. They have it all there and it's free to them. Maybe they will have a sample of a diaper cream that will work. We only used cornstarch on our DS who is very sensitive.

Firstly don't stress out about it. Most flights with kids go quite smoothly. You don't need a huge amount of stuff on the flight with you. It just makes it hard to cart on and off the flight and most flights will supply you with almost anything you require. Our first flights with Cullen when he was 11 months were 4 12 hour flights from the UK to NZ and back. Cullen was breastfeeding at the time so that was quite helpful. We try to travel at night so that he is ready for a sleep. We always have snacks with us, he never ate a proper meal even though he loves his food he just wasn't interested in his meals so the snacks kept him going.

Have a great trip.

I picked up Desitin samples at my pediatrician's office during my last visit. Also, Target has really beefed up their sample size offerings and they have small packs of Boudreux's Butt Paste (my absolute favorite for red bottoms).

whatever you bring will work. I was four when my sister was born and I had powdered formula up the ying yang

Just looked into this today - It is our first time traveling with a 5 and 1 year old.

Go to www.TSA.gov and then click on "for travelers"
On that page you will find "Traveling with Children" - it will tell what is allowed and what is not. You are allowed more if you have kids.

Hope this helps

If you haven't already packed it, you may want a baggie of cheerios or whatever little snack food he likes to bring along and a small blanket. I always get cold on flights and blanket will keep him cozy and maybe make him sleepy (plus, it's harder to get blankets from the airlines these days!). Also - one piece of advice that's always worked well for us when traveling - try to do give him a bottle on the way up and one on the way down which seems to help with their ears with the pressure change.

I'm sure it will go great! Good luck!:goodvibes
