Our trip to WDW will be the first time my DD(6) has flown.....And I guess Im paranoid about her getting air sick. She has been on long car trips and never gotten car sick.....Is there something that I can do to prevent her from getting air sick or something to relieve it if she is starting to feel queezy? Is Drammamine safe for a 6 yo?? Any help would be greatly appreciated...Thank ya :-)

DD was six the first time she flew. It was an evening flight, so I gave her children's Dramamine about 1 hr before we boarded to be on the safe side and possibly help her take a lttle snooze (she did not)- she was fine. FYI - Benedryl also helps with this.

She did great on both legs of the flight - in fact we were not even seated together - as the plane was full and it was a last minute trip - she sat across from me on the flight down, and the other flight she was in front of me across the aisle from me (i.e. I could not even see her!) and she flew like a pro!

if she hasn't ever gotten car sick , I wouldn't think she would get air sick, I would be more worried about her ears... And for that bring her some suckers or gum along, That could also help if she was starting to feel nausuas (sp?).. Is she acting scared? or excitied, I would think she would be excited! I am sure she will do great! good luck... :)

Thank ya much :-) It will be a 7-10PM flight so hopefully she will sleep for most of it...If I wake her up earlier that day and try to keep her up all day.

She is more likely to get car sick than airsick and since she doesn't get carsick quit worrying about it! Just don't mention it, take gum and hard candy and have fun.

I have a sister who gets very carsick even on short trips and she can and has flown everywhere.

She doesnt know that she is going yet. Im trying to keep it a surprise until the day we leave...Otherwise she will be asking everyday if its time to go yet.

She will have a great time! There are few things in life that are as exciting yet as safe as a first airplane ride. I agree that it is unlikely that anything other than ears will be an issue. And even for that just something to drink is all that most kids need.

I hate to say it but....I have two DSs that have never been car sick but get air sick on a regular basis. My DS who does get car sick does not get airsick. BUT....most people do not get airsick. I wouldn't worry about it. Just locate the barf bag when you get on, it is your friend ;) and maybe take an extra change of clothes just in case. For what its worth, my boys usually get sick during landing on long(9hour) flights.

DD gets car sick and the plane does not bother her. Give her some benedryl ahead of time if you are very worried. She'll be OK.

My dd was 6 when she had her first plane ride, she loved it. when we landed
she started to cry,I asked what was the matter? She said " I thought we were
going to disney?" I said we are and she said were is it? She thought we were going to land in disney. :rotfl: your dd should be fine just let her sit by the window .I hear looking out the window will prevent car or air sickness.

We flew in May with our sons for the first time. DS (5) has gotten car sick a few times and I was a little worried about him getting air sick. He did. Not on the plane but just as soon as we got off. I should have known, because during the landing he looked as white as a ghost. But as soon as we got him cleaned up he was fine. He didn't get sick on the way back though. We stayed on the plane until everyone else was off and DH had a bag ready. He didn't use it and in fact walked off the plane (there were about 100 people waiting to get on the plane) and said loudly "Mommy I didn't throw up!" I'm sure the 100 people who were waiting were happy to hear that.
Anyway, you never know. But just bring a change of clothes. Have fun. The look on the kids faces when you lift off the ground is priceless!
