Going to try Allegiant and having hearing really nothing about them, besides the seats aren't comfortable. What about bag fees(flint,MI to Sanford, Fl)?
Hopefully their fees are not crazy high.
Prices from Michigan to Florida are still high even in September.

I've flown allegiant a few times in the past year. They get you from point a to point b. Nothing unusual to report. But of course, if you have a problem, blah blah blah blah, you know the routine.

With most of those low cost airlines you get what you pay for. They often don't fly every route daily so if there is a mechanial issue it might be several days before the next flight. They can be OK when things go well, but a real mess when they don't. Also make sure to include ALL of the extra 'fees' when doing any kind of price comparison. Some of these budget airlines obscure the various extra charges and when you finally add them up, you really haven't saved that much money.

If your actual destination is Disney, make sure to include the cost of ground transportation from Sandford since I have seen other threads where people think they are saving a few dollars on airfare into that airport and then don't realize how far from Disney it is. The ground transportation costs could exceed any flight savings.

We have flown them a few times to Clearwater for our beach vacations and always had a good experience. But if something goes wrong you need to have a backup plan as the next flight to your destination might be days away.

Definitely add up all of the fees for baggage, reserved seats etc. and compare to your other options. Often it’s not as cheap as it seems at first.

One positive change (effective March 1st) is that checked bags can be up to 50 lbs. which is consistent with the policies at major airlines. Allegiant has historically capped checked bags at 40 lbs.

From the baggage fee calculator. Flint to Orlando.

If your flight departs on or after August 16th, 2023 the pre-departure bag fee (for checked and carry-on) will be $70, and the fee at the airport will be $75.

I can't find that change on their site.

Crazy high baggage fees go with crazy low airfares
Edited to add I found the change to 50 lbs via Google but not on their site. The article offersba link to Allegiant site, 40 lbs is listed YMMV

I received the information in an email from Allegiant, but when I click on a link to learn more, it brings me to a page on their website with the old information (luggage weight limit 40). But it has been increased to 50 lbs beginning March 1st. size limits for baggage have also been increased. I was going to copy in email here, but it's all graphics.

I also wanted to second a PP's suggestion to check on ground transportation costs. They are seriously more money than MCO. Plus my husband now travels with his scooter. Not easy finding reasonable cost transportation from Sanford that can accommodate his ECV.

We are fortunate to have the option of travelling to Philly to get direct nonstop flights to Orlando. I wanted to try Allegiant because we could get direct nonstop from Allentown but I think my future choices will involve an airline that will go to MCO. Much more affordable ground transportation that's accessible friendly for a reasonable price. (Just love sunshine Flyer!!!)

So I'm now booked on Allegiant, hoping everything will go smoothly.
Not a bad price, 2 people R.T Flint to Sanford, plus 1 check bag totals $667(this also includes taxes and fees). Arrival times is great, departure gets me home at a decent time.
AA & United price is crazy$$$, times are terrible, layover are too short ,connect or really long.
