Hello,

I have a couple questions regarding DVC and using the dining plan and getting tickets. I know most DVC members have annual passes; We are doing a split DVC stay and looking to add dining plan and 10 day park hopper how would this work with the key to the world card?

Do I need to buy tickets direct from DVC or could use an outside vendor? Does the dining get linked to your tickets or will you have two separate cards?

You may buy your tickets anywhere you choose. No need to buy at check in. (You really can't buy tickets from DVC). The front desk (or concierge desk) can add the tickets to your KTTW card.

Since you will have two separate reservations, you will have two separate dining plans. The credits from the first stay will expire at midnight of the day you check out from that stay. The credits from the second stay will be active when you check in for the second stay.

I do not know if they will transfer your tickets to the new KTTW card or if you will have to keep the old KTTW card to use for a ticket. If the magic band thing in in effect when you go, transferring tickets should not be a problem as the tickets and hotels stays will all be tied to your magic bands. However, I still think the dining credits for the fist stay will expire at midnight of the day you check out. You should ask at check in if you will be using magic bands.

Park tickets you can (have to) do on your own--thru one of the services (e.g., Undercover Tourists--they're great), or when you check in (or, if you want, in advance thru Disney). If you buy from UT (or another service), the resort's concierge desk can add the tickets to your KTTW card, or you can just use the separate ticket. Given your split stay, if it were me, I'd simply use the separate PH ticket...

For dining plan, the owner you're renting from has to add (and pay for) it for you. You work out w/the owner how you'll pay them (lots of possibilities--a check in advance, a three-way call to MS where you will give a credit card number, Disney gift cards, etc.) The key is that you will not be able to add the dining plan yourself; it has to be added (and paid in full) by the owner, at least two days prior to your check-in. Because you're doing a split stay, it's likely going to show up as two separate transactions (that can be done at the same time), one for each resort.

Hope this helps.

Good info !

Now would the dining plan be on a separate kttw card from my ticket if I purchase my ticket in advance say through mouse savers or could they link the two to one kttw card ?

Your dining plan credits will automatically be on your KTTW card. If you purchase theme park admission from an authorized seller, you have have that added to your KTTW card at the front desk at check-in.

If MagicBands are available for your trip, you will use those to access the dining plan and your room. To use MagicBands with tickets not part of a Disney Package, you link your theme park admission using MyDisneyExperience (MDE).

You might want to think about getting the DDP for only the first reservation. You can get the deluxe dining plan which includes appetizers, eat at signature restaurants and you can still use the credits on the first day of your second reservation.

In the past when we used to buy the dining plan, we found that having the plan every day was too much food.

Has there been any updates at all of when magicbands may be coming to DVC?

FYI, a current benefit of keeping tickets seperate from your KTTW is you can pull old fast passes with both your ticket AND KTTW. (Disney had to allow this for the MagicBand testing) On the last leg of your trip, you might be able to pull FP from both KTTW and your ticket..
