I will be driving for the first time on my own when i go back and will be all alone AAAAHHHHHHH!!!!

So you experienced people out there, how do i stop myself panicking when i am ready to leave the safe pickup car park and launch myself on all those unsuspecting other drivers.

My biggest worry is getting from Orlando international to the villa at Lindfields, i know where the villa is situated as i stayed at the La quinta just down the road, but i will need the easiest foolproof, idiots guide to getting there.

So any info, tips advice most greatfully received. ta guys.

Exit the airport on the sputh exit road and follow the signs for the 417 Greeneway. This is a toll road so have your $ ready i think the total is about $5 can't be 100% on it . Leave at the exit for Celebration and head for the 192 west .From there you will probably know where you are -if not just keep heading west and you will see Lindfileds on your left hand side.

As far as the actual driving goes - don't be in too much of a hurry to leave the parking lot. Make sure you familiarise yourself with the cars controls and you know where the brake is etc -not the pedal one -the equivilent to our handbrake I mean .Keep in the slow lane and relax .Driving in the states is quite easy really but still can be a nerve racking for the first time.

There will be lots of Brits there...ask a family if you can follow them for the first part (most people will be heading that sort of direction!!). It will give you a bit of confidence and get used to the feel of the roads. We did that on our first trip and DH was fine after the first couple of miles. The worst bit was actually getting on the right road out of the airport...once you are on the 417, it really is plain sailing...as is the 192 to WDW.

Good luck, you will be absolutely fine!!

I would also recommend that, as you won't have a navigator, you make sure you are really confident before you go that you know which exits / roads you need.

Fisrt time DH drove he was VERY nervous and spent a good 10 mins or so driving round the car park (well away from other cars and traffic LOL) until he was completely familiar with all the controls etc. He says this was 10 mins well spent to build a bit of confidence.

Don't worry, you'll be fine - it is so much easier than driving in the UK!!

Best wishes,

Karen

The only thing I'd add to Janny's directions is that you need to make sure when you join the 417 you take it in the correct direction. It will be marked up for Disney World and I think towards I4 (Tampa) . Once you get on the 417, then as Janny says exit at the Celebration exit and take 192 West
