please forgive if I am asking a dumb question.

I understand that food and most drinks are free, but what is not free that you will need to pay for.

I guess my main question is I have a 11 yrs old boy that eats almost 24/7, is there food that is avaivable all the time that is free. I just want to make sure I know what is free ans what I will need to pay for.
thanks brooke

Alcohol, cokes in the bars or from room service or pool service, exursions and photos are what you will pay for. For your son and what he eats, everything is free, unless he orders a coke from room service. All the food is free, but you should tip the person who brings it. Have a great time!

Also, of course, the arcade is not free. We gave our boys $10 and told them that if they wanted to spend any more more, it would have to be their own.
Our ds9 was very thrifty and decided there were better things to spend his money on. Our ds7, however, was another story and went through his money rather quickly.
Lesson learned.

No such thing as a dumb question on these boards! We all ask and learn!

to elaborate on the food question, besides the 3 square meals offered in the dining rooms and buffets, the food at Pinnochio's pizzaria and Pluto's Hot Dog stand (I understand one or both also serves burgers, fries, chicken fingers, etc) and Scoops ice cream are all free, all located up on deck 9 near the pools. Free soda/beverages at the drink station on deck 9. Then there are, at different times, free snacks in some of the clubs (NOT the Oceaneer's club/lab - no food there, though they do bring the kids to meals) and some late night buffets.

Also, some people bring coolers w/ drinks (both alcoholic and non) onto the ship with them; you can look on these boards for past threads re: coolers.

I'd like to hear more about the "snacks" in the nightclubs. For instance, do they serve free food at the clubs during different family events, like, for instance, Family Karaoke? How about Studio Sea?:sunny:

Most 11 year olds love the four food groups: pizza, chicken strips, fries, and ice cream. ALL are free at Pluto's, Scoops, Pinnochio's for as long as they are open! This dad even enjoyed a few from time to time.

Don't forget room service. We had cereal and toast delivered each morning for DS to eat before we went to breakfast. There are many items on the room service menu (mac & cheese, sandwiches, desserts, etc.) that children will eat.

Another thing to spend money on is souveniers and packaged snacks/drinks/smoothies sold in the gift shop or served in the Walt Disney Theater.

We bought some Jelly Belly type candies before Disney Dreams. We would smell them to see if we could tell what flavor they were. We stopped this when instead of putting them next to her nose, DD3 tried to put them up her nose.

My 11 year old also eats 24/7 given the chance (he will sleep, but I believe he dreams of food). What are the normal hours of Pinnochio's, Pluto's and Scoops?

yes, that is correct. Room service is free and all the food you can order. (Just remember to tip a small amount for the delivery of it) you can even ask for items not on the menu in your room... mickey bars for example. The only food items I saw that there was a charge for was theater candy type stuff, such as candy bars, m&m's etc.

Ask away, that's what the board is here for, you to gather as much info as possible. Have fun.

Pinnochios 11 am--6 pm, 9:30 pm to midnight

Plutos 11 am--10/11pm

Scoops 11 am--8 pm
Scoops fruit 11 am--5 pm

We packed bags of snacks to take along with us to the shows, much cheaper than the packs they sell there.

We also took along lots of $1 bills to use for tipping when we got room service. We ordered sandwiches, fruit, and cookies from room service, packed those in our cooler and took them along when we went on excursions in Grand Cayman and Key West. Worked great! Don't forget to order the cheese and fruit tray from room service--I believe you can even order the Mickey bars but will have to ask as they are not on the menu. There are a few things that cost from room service--drinks and I think a few snacks (someone else will probably remember better than me on this).

We our 11 DS with us and he always found enough to eat with the dining room meals, topsiders, and the above three plus room service! It is amazing what they can eat, isn't it???

:sunny: :bounce:

Thank you, ksjayhawks, you and the rest of the "veterans" on the DIS boards are always helpful with your advice. You're right, they seem to eat all the time and I put on their weight--it just isn't fair!
