I am going to be a first time buyer and am looking into buying into BLT. My question is can I buy 220 points and divide that into a 160 pt contract and a 60 pt contract? My guide is saying as a first time buyer, my only options are to get the 220 point contract as a single contract, or if I wanted smaller contracts it would require at least 260 pts (160 points to join and 100 pts as an add on, which could be divided). TIA

I believe your guide is correct--the minimum "master" contract is 160 points and BLT requires a minimum add-on of 100 points.

Your Guide should know, that's there business. You can ask your Guide again and have them check with their manager for "special" permission.

I believe your guide is correct. Min buy in is 160. Add ons at BLT are 100 or more. Therefore, you can't now have a 60 point contract. I am sure Disney doesn't want those out there. :-)

Good luck and enjoy!!

If you want another 100 points they will break it into two 50 point contracts (that is what we did). So if you want to wait I'm sure some 50 point contracts will eventually be on the resale market.

actually--I think someone could have a 60 point contract--if they added on 160 points--they could break it up into 100 and 60. It's just the OP cannot have his/her first contract be less than 160.

They couldn't have a 60 pt add-on at BLT though, because the minimum add-on there is 100 pts.

Also, just to clarify for the OP, you can only split up a contract like that when you buy the contract, as that's when it is created. Once it's created, that's it. If you buy a 220 pt contract, you can't later split that up into smaller ones.

So when I added today, you think they would have let me add 50 and 50 for the min for BLT as an add on---??? Or 60 and 40??? or 25 and 75? I thought they were wanting the contracts to be at least for 100 points.... Maybe I will call my guide back and ask

From what I understand, the minimum add-on contract for BLT is 100 points, so no you could not have broken that up. The other resorts have different minimums - unless they have changed you can have an add-on anywhere except BLT of as little as 25 points (50 if you want to finance).

I just added on BLT points Saturday. The minimum size contract they will do is 100 points. I could not get two 50's at this point. He did say that some people who called within a few days of the change were able to get those through but no longer.

So, in your case, there is no way to break up the 220 into contracts that satisfy the minimum required for new members (160) and add-on (100).

I would check because I did my second hundred points as two 50 point contracts. I have 260 points in three contracts - one for 160 points and two for 50 points. I had to ask - my guide did not volunteer this information. Good Luck!

When were you able to do this? Maybe I should contact my guide back? As of Saturday, I was told no.

Technically 160 plus 100 would be correct. But if you ask them to ask a supervisor you may be able to get the 220 in two components of 160 plus 60.

I did it in mid-January (contracts are dated the 17th) and I just asked if they could do it that way and was told no problem. I got the contracts and have returned them so it is legal. :confused3 Maybe these aare worth more then I thought :rotfl2:

It may be that they let you do it because it was so close to the change date of the 15th. My guide did mention that some people got them through that were close to the change date.

I think because I did it Saturday, more than 2 weeks after the change, it was a no go. But you are right, those small contracts will be worth more if the only thing you can do is 100.

I would ask your guide to talk to a supervisor and if a no go, ask to speak to them yourself.

We bought our contract this way prior to them raising the minimum contact requirement. I think there will eventually be a lot of small contracts for sale as I am sure many people purchased this way.
