Any advice for a first timer? My 60 days out is on July 30th. I hear the park isn't crazy in Sept-Oct is it vital that I book right away? We aren't crazy about seeing A&E.

If you don't care about A&E or (maybe) Mine Train, then there is no need for you to stay up till midnight to book your FPs right away. But don't wait too long.

We are going in September and this was my first time with FastPass. It was rather simple. I didn't go online until mid-afternoon the day FP opened for me. It's just DH and me and it's pre-cruise, so character meet/greets were not a priority. Dwarfs Mine Ride was the biggest deal at MK (got it) and the only other park we're doing is DS--got FP for Toy Story Mania, Star Tours, and Tower of Terror. We figure since it's Sept. 11/12, the lower crowds will hopefully allow us to fair well with standby lines. Cannot wait for September to get here!!

Well....first timer here too........... My FP+ day is today (17th), which means it was really last night. I was ready to go at 12midnight.........however MDE wasn't, apparently, ready for me..........and for many others for that matter. I just found out about the 1am issue the other day.....so after I got over my minor freak out :scared1: (I'm disappointed in myself because I did kinda freek!) I waited until 1am........I didn't really get in until around 1:15am and then via my iphone MDE app. When I did it was pretty easy to maneuver.

Now I didn't get A&E......wasn't available :sad2:.......but I was able to get 7DMT :cool1: on each of the 2 days we'll be in the MK. And............within time frames that work in our plan!

As far as HS was concerned..........I was pretty satisfied......got both ToT and RocknRoller Coaster! At Epcot was able to get "Soarin" in the morn'in :goodvibes. The tiering did impact me a small bit at Epcot as the Tier B stuff is very limited.......ended up with Maelstrom as 3rd FP but don't think we'll need it really. After Test Track and Soar'in there isn't all that much for FP+ at Epcot ( IMHO ).

The only park where timing is a bit of a bother is with AK. I wasn't able to get the safari until 11:50am. This could impact our afternoon plans a bit but........its not the end of the world.

The really great deal is I was able to get a "Festival of Fantasy" FP+ for the day we've planned for parade viewing!!!! Now I have no idea if this upgraded location will be all that great............don't know if I care....... It has to be better than the last location we had for a parade at the MK. Awful spot on the hub were the parade went between us and a 1000 other guests.....bad planning on my part. So this will have to be better!

One thing I found is that don't worry to much about the initial times you get. They're easily changed.........and there's plenty of times on the first night you set this up. What I did was get my selections in first, with reasonable but not perfect times.............and then went back and updated my times..........worked like a charm:banana:

One other suggestion I have is be sure to review your selections to make sure you have everyone you want, in your party, on the FP selection. This morning when I went in and reviewed.......:sad1: I had 3 FP selections that were missing my sweetie.......and one was the 7DMT!!!! :scared: The system easily let me add the 2nd person without question on each one that I had missed. This worked really well for adding 1 person (2 in our party), not sure the impact on larger groups!

All in all.....once you get in  the system is pretty easy to use. Even without A&E (our trip is in Sept.......we can wait in line) I'm very pleased with how our FP+ worked out.

Now to get FP+ for BOG :scared1:

Hi,

A question about booking FP as mine is coming up in a month (first Disney trip). When making the initial booking, it it better to just select any time for the ride/attraction and go through all your days. Then return (I assume you see your selections somewhere in MDE) and then play with the times?

I'm also debating on getting up at midngiht (i.e. go to bed normal time at 10pm but set my alarm). I do want to try for A&E for my little girl, but from what I hear, it sounds almost pointless.

Good luck on the A&E try........just from reading here on the DIS Boards I was pretty comfortable that those would all be gone........and they were. If you're going during a slower time........waiting in line might be an option.

Thanks for the suggestions! I probably won't wait up. Again, A and E matter not to me... See what I did there?

If you want A&E, focus on getting the right time to those FP first. Everything else should have enough availability for you to come back and adjust later.
