First Time at the Poly - suggestions?

Katerbell,

Have a great trip. I'm right behind you - less than a week. I'm thinking of Samoa because it's been refurbished and is now non-smoking.

Have a great time!!

Anna

Mammabear3710- Can you tell me what room number you had at Tahiti LV? Thanks, I'm still tring to figure out what room I would like to request. Also, was it non-smoking? and how was the view?

We got room 1315 in Fiji - overlooking the marina....first floor with a patio.

GREAT location - a short short walk to the GCH, and not toooo bad to the TTC. (we only walked there once)... We were right near the beach and took advantage of the hammocks and covered chairs looking out towards the MK and GF. Beautiful!!

Fiji was recently renovated, from what I understand... New wallpaper, new bed comforters, a cute little futon thingie... the rooms were pretty nice!

This will be our last trip to "regular" hotels on Disney property, however, as this was our incentive trip that we got free from purchasing DVC - so the rest of our future disney vacations will be spent in the DVC units...

Thanks to all for the advice!! :)

Welcome home!
I am glad you had a good trip. I am very glad the room worked out for you. Everyone has different likes, and when I make a suggestion I would feel bad if it turned out to be a negative.
Did you notice the howling from the Haunted Mansion. We were still looking for that noise when we got home!

NO!! we heard the Luau more than anything at night - never heard the Haunted Mansion!! that would have been pretty darn cool! :)

Glad you had a great trip. I always worry about noise from rooms above us and usually try to stay on the upper floor. Did you find this to be an issue?

Hi Tess, you mentioned that the LV rooms from Tahiti had a great view, can you tell me what floor and room number you had? Thanks!!

Wish I could remember what the room number was--it's been a number of years ago that we stayed in Tahiti. Since we discovered concierge--we've not been in Tahiti--that is, of course, until our trip in a week or so. ;)

Our room was at the west end of Tahiti, 2nd floor--next to the last room LV. We were very close to the stairs on the west end and not that far from the central "lounge" area by the elevators. The view was great. Frankly, from the upper floors anyway, I don't think you'd have a bad view. That said, I would think the very end rooms (west side anyway) are more landscaped and might be a bit obstructed on the lagoon side.

Hope that helps a bit!

Thanks Tess! I am still debating about 1st floor vs. 3rd floor LV! We always get an upper level floor,so I thought this time might be nice to try a patio since we have a LV. On the other hand, 3rd floor will be nice to just grab something from the lounge without having to go up and down! My dd's are 7 and 10 , so I don't have to worry about them getting lost!! I am stressing too much over this!! What are your opinions?

My personal preference is an upper floor--but that's just a preference. I don't like the wildlife on the patios--all that duck poo and being pestered by them while I'm sitting outside. Being on 3 would be more convenient for the lounge, but less so when returning to your room for any forgotten items. Then again, it's quieter on 3 (usually) because there's no noisy neighbor above you.

Flip a coin. . .you can't lose either way! :D

There was just one evening that I recall that we heard the "pitter patter" of little feet above... Ok, they were elephants.

:) But it didn't ruin anything - they eventually stopped - it was 8:30pm - so it's not like I expected total quiet at that time.
