Hey everyone! My name's Hope and I'll be taking my thrid ever Disney Vacation! I am so excited! This year we decided to "rough it" at the fort wilderness campground. I've never been to the camp and was wondering if anyone had some tips on how to make the most of the trip!

I would really like to do the Sing along with Chip n' Dale one night too and watch the Disney movie under the stars! It sounds like a blast! What movies do they play?

thanks for reading!

You're going to have a fantastic time! Are you in a tent, or a camper? :goodvibes

Yes, you're going to have a fantastic time!

Remember the boat that takes you to the Magic Kingdom -- the easiest and fastest way to get there. Also boats to the Contemporary and Wilderness Lodge.

Although a lot of people complain about it, Trail's End Buffet is the best food value in all of WDW. Especially breakfast.

Be sure and see the Electrical Water Parade from the shore of Bay Lake.

Above all, have fun and give us a trip report! When are you going?

:welcome: to the board. Hope you have a magical trip!:wizard:

don't forget to check the sticky on the main board that lists all the movies for the month...

The fort is one of the best places on earth!! There's so much to do and see just right there. Our favorites are the Meadows Pool, the campfire singalong, and just hanging out at our campsite with each other. Believe it or not, our kids enjoyed playing tetherball in our loop a lot.

This last trip we did the Hoop-de-Doo Revue, and it was a total blast! It's on the expensive side, but well worth it at least once. Food was great, and the show is fabulous!

Welcome to the gang, we're here to help :J)

My suggestion is to check out the "post a picture" of your set up type threads. I have made mental notes about a bunch of things to improve our camping experience by looking at what other people did.

Welcome!! You'll LOVE the Fort!!

It's really a great place to be. When are you coming and like Rhnda asked -- what kind of equipment? A lot of things you might like to know will depend on the answers to those questions. Have fun.

Welcome to the boards!! :dance3: You will love this forum and find so much great info here about the Fort. We just returned from our first trip last month, and absolutely loved it!! There is so much to see and do, we didn't even begin to scratch the surface of the place. We did do the Mickey's Backyard BBQ at the Fort, which was awesome. Have fun planning! :goodvibes

lol, it's been a while since someone thought I was the girl ;) Elizabeth rarely rarely posts on here, it's mainly me Chris. I'll be sure to tell her though that Reilly is a little prince...lol

Me & DH love Fort Wilderness- we stayed at Pop Century one time & it just wasn't Disney without the Fort.
We love riding around on the golf cart, making smores and watching the movie (we've seen The Incredibles, Bambi, and Cars- just to name a few of the great movies they play there). We also love the nightly Electric Light Parade (I love the dinosaur). There's also the swimming poles. But we love getting up and boating to MK and playing there all day, or monorailing to Epcot. We drive to AK & MGM .
It's so much fun- you'll love it! :cool1:

Welcome to the Camping Boards! Please do tell us if you're planning on tenting, or a pop-up, travel trailer, etc, etc etc, or cabins -- that makes a big difference in what people might suggest.

Also, I would recommend checking out the sticky entitled "Frequently Asked Questions" because, well, many questions are frequently asked..and it might just be one of your questions as well. ;)

:welcome:

Hey, I thought it was Reilly posting.

Thanks for the tips everyone! I have BIG BIG BIG plans for this year's trip! I can't wait! :yay:

Hello and Welcome! I am new to the boards here as well and also were just first time campers at the Fort. We've done the hotel thing before but now that we have a camper, well, it just made sense to camp there! We didn't do any of the sing a longs, although I wanted to and could hear that and the movie from our site. One of my kids allergies got worse down there and the night air made him cough like he had croup, so we stayed inside most nights---besides, it was really cold for April as well! Either bring your own marshmallows and roasting sticks or get some there to roast marshmallows. If you can, rent a golf cart. We wish we would have had one! Just walking around the property is pretty. The meadows pool was really large and the kids enjoyed that. I am so glad we went and camped there. It was far better than staying in a hotel and having to eat our for every meal. I enjoy having someone else cook and clean up, but after awhile, I'd rather just have a homecooked meal. You're gonna love it!!

Welcome to the boards fortcampers! I'm sorry to hear about your kid's Allergies. I know first hand that they can be a major drag. I think I'll be ok because my allergies hardley ever give me problems in the summertime and we're going June 24-29! It's going to be a truely special tirp! we have two first timers traveling with us that have some extra magical supprises planned for them! Especially for my cousin Dave AKA my partner in crime! I'm also returning with my Dad and my little brothers Shawn and Jason (ages 9 and 11) I'm also celebrating my Birthday at the Star Wars Weekends (I'm a HUGE Star Wars fan and just the fact that I'm going back to the SWW is a dream come true in it's self!) :goodvibes

At first I was a little wearry about camping out at Disney, for some odd reason I just can't connect the word's Mickey Mouse and Camp Out. The camp sounds fantastic and I know my dad is really going to love it! He's a hardcore outdoor person. This will be the perfect opertuinty to try out the new camper. I know some people asked earlier what kind of gear we're taking, there you go. I agree with you Fortcampers, I really love the Disney Dining but sometimes it's hard to beat a homecooked meal, espcially if you love to cook! (I don't mean to brag but I'm quite creativie in the kitchen, just give me a spice rack, a frying pan, and a fridge! Add Mountain Dew and PRESTO!) :stir:
