I own at both BWV and BLT, and have stayed at all the other DVC resorts, except SSR. And that's what was open for my early Dec stay. I have wanted to give it a try, so okay with it. BUT.......I have no clue about the resort itself.
I haven't been there other than to have a quick drink or two with friends...barely remember that particular night!!!
So...any tips, or insights you all can give me? Are there any areas I really don't want to stay in?? Not that that makes much difference. I pretty much take what they give me.
Buses??? I know there are multiple stops, but any of them better to use than others, even if it means a longer walk???
Thanks for any info...really looking forward to trying this resort.

We own at SSR and love it. It is a huge resort but they have many pools and many bus stops, so really anywhere you stay should be great. If you wish to be close to the main check in area and restaurants etc, then act for the springs section. If you wish to be close to the entrance then ask for the grandstand section. The treehouse villas are very quiet and away from everything.

We stayed there once & enjoyed it.
Request congress park if you would like to walk to DTD, and have a view of DTD. :thumbsup2

Ditto! This is the only resort where I put in requests, try to avoid the Carousel Area, "No Man's Land" as I refer to it. Love Congress Park, DTD view, worth asking for!

SSR is a beautiful resort. The Turf Club is one of the better resort restaurants, we've enjoyed it several times over the years. We also like the Artist's Pallete for QS, they have good sandwiches. You can take the boat to and from DTD, it's lovely at night, and as previously mentioned you can also walk back (we like walking).

Enjoy your stay!

What is the best request for the Paddock Pool Area? I understand that there are 3 floors in a building..Does a high floor request make a difference? I've been told that the walk to DD is "about" 10-15 minutes from the Paddock Section..Is this accurate? Any "expert" advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!:)

Since Carousel is the 2nd bus stop and is 2nd closest to the Paddock feature pool and CS I think I would now prefer Carousel over Springs (last stop)

I don't really mind how the buses run, I'm on vacation and go to Disney several times a year, so I don't panic if takes a few minutes more or less to get somewhere.

I do however love my balcony time in the morning and at night and twice ( 2 times in a row, without requests) got stuck facing the parking lot, with a view of the the road and guardgate from my villa in the Carousel Building. No mas! Since I've requested Congress Park, DTD view and we've gotten it all 3 times!

Hey, it by no means ruined my vacation and if all they had was in Carousel I would willingly take it but I much prefer Congress Park!

I would not pick any location based on bus stops. Many recommend Grandstand but since it is the first to get picked up, if it is during the day anytime after opening, the bus is always packed when you get on with people going to the other stops.

Springs, even though the last stop, no stopping after that until you get to the parks.

So to me they all have their pros and cons and not enough to make a difference.

I would pick according to views, location to main building, or Downtown Disney.

If you want the new rehab rooms pick Congress Park or Springs.

I agree on the views and requests. On our 2 trips there, we requested just the Springs and 1st floor - nothing else that I recall. First trip - very nice, looked out on a pond and greenery. Second trip (and for a week!) - our room faced the main road right across from the DVC welcome center. We never used the patio all week. It was disappointing, although I realized someone has to get those rooms.

I will try and make view requests there in the future.

I understand that there are 3 floors in a building

All the buildings are exactly the same layout. Most of the building is 4 floors, but part of each building is 3 floors. Generally, most rooms will have a decent view, but on some buildings, one end of the building or the other may have a less desirable view. The post above is an example of a room on the end of a building with a bad view.

We stayed at SSR in August for three nights and we loved it! We stayed in the Grandstand, which is very close to the main building (I can't think of the name of it right now). It was a short walk to the lobby and the bus stop and had no problems with the location.
It was also very quiet and had no problems with loud guests.
We loved being so close to DTD and loved taking the boat to and from SSR.
Overall, we enjoyed our stay there and would love to stay there again!

Thanks for all the insights!! Very helpful. I am really getting excited about my first stay at SSR...love staying in new resorts.

we only stayed at SSR once, but loved it!
congress park, DTD view was amazing (it was our favorite after BW view - we do enjoy time on our balcony:cloud9:).
turf club is one of the top restaurants in WDW, with great food and atmosphere (no character meals, rather elegant without being stuffy).
artist pallette is a great option for snacks and small meals.

one of our favorite things to do was walk to DTD.....it was sooo quiet. we saw quite a bit of wildlife, including an eagle perched on a branch directly above us. DTD is so close to SSR, yet sooo distant :)

it is a wonderful resort, especially if you enjoy relaxing strolls amidst beautiful surroundings

Agreed! :thumbsup2 Just stayed in a 2br in Congress Park last week and had an awesome view of DTD! We were right next to the DTD walkway and the quiet pool, which was so pretty and almost always empty! It's such a beautiful resort and I LOVED my stay there! I can't wait to stay there again! I was concerned about the size as well, but it ended up not being a problem at all! We were pretty close to the bus stop and simply got off at the Springs whenever we wanted to visit the main building. It's a magnificent and peaceful place to stay and I highly recommend it. :goodvibes

It is a personal preference and there is not one correct answer for all. I do not like standing on busses. My feet are the only thing tha wears out at Disney. (legs are ok, I'm sure I could bike around more)

On my last trip or 2 to SSR I have noticed SRO busses occasionally by CP and 90% of the time at Springs. It seems that THV has added a few too many bus passengers at SSR

Hey JerseyGal,
I prefer the 2nd or 3rd floors for the balconies as opposed to the patio. They feel more private. We did stay in the first floor once and it was convenient for bringing in the luggage, as the parking lot was closer to the patio than the door.

Matt (also from Jersey)
