We checked in yesterday around 4pm. Our 1BR was ready, we are in building 14 which is a great location! Originally the plan was a 2BR for 5 nights, but two in our party backed out so we altered it just a month ago to a 1BR for 6 nights. I am so glad there was availability to change, the 1BR is MASSIVE!!! We stayed in a value 1BR at AKV last year and the difference in size really is staggering.

We were able to go for a swim last night and both DD and DS loved the main pool. The sandcastle slide is so much fun! DS was in heaven playing in the sand behind the slide. I was in heaven sipping a bahama mama, listening to the steel drum music and watching the sky turn pink.:lovestruc There was a campfire and smores to wrap up our first night. :goodvibes

We went to Hollywood Studios this morning, first time for everyone but me, and last time I was there I was in high school and it was still MGM studios. We did the Little Mermaid, Playhouse Disney Live, Great Movie Ride and DD and I hit Star Tours. After that the kids were done with the heat and BIG crowds seemed to come out of nowhere, so we headed back to OKW for lunch and some downtime. (I would say "naptime" but I can still hear DS so not much napping going on) I was hoping a nap would give us the energy to make it til Fantasmic tonight, but it's looking doubtful at this point!

I will try to upload some pics later on, little man isn't going to give me the break I was hoping for. Thanks to all you OKW lovers that offered such good tips on an AMAZING resort. We are all excited about being here the rest of the week!

I'll be there on the 13th for my 1st time as a DVC owner. I will also be in the HH area. I can't wait. Looking forward to your report and pictures.

Here are a two pics of our view from building 14. There is a fountain just to the left as well, and I discovered yesterday afternoon we can see the balloon from DTD just above the trees :)

We didn't get back in time last night for me to take any pretty pink sky pics, but here are a few of OKW at night.

Aaah, you make me miss OKW! After our trip to VWL, I want to go back there!

Have fun the rest of the way. We were at SSR last year at this time and LOVED the low crowds. The heat was another story.....;)

:)Glad you are enjoying one of our "homes" and hope you have a wonderful vacation! Did you get a newly renovated room? Thanks for sharing, looking forward to more.

OKW rooms are nice and big. Plus - you cant beat the points! You have me thinking of the OKW pool, we had a blast staying there twice in 2008. We had friends and family with us in October and spent a full day just hanging at the main pool - what a blast.

Hopefully the parks will quiet down a bit after today...either way sounds like a great trip!!! Make sure to keep us posted.

Thanks for the pics!

Have fun

OOOOO OP you DD is a red head! So is mine! :scared1: (Gotta love those redheads and their fiery tempers! It gets even better when they are teens! But my DD is a real sweetheart, red hair and all!) Love, love, love OKW....it is one of our favorite resorts. :thumbsup2 Have you seen the ducks around the ponds? My kinds loved those when there were smaller. My DD, DNiece & DNephew all loved the sand castle slide and pool! We didn't think that we would get them outta there! :lmao: I am so ready to go back now...we are headed to SSR in October, but there is always a special place in my heart for OKW. ENJOY!

It is a pretty resort, isn't it??!! :goodvibes

We were just there two weeks ago. Besides the weather, it was wonderful!

Heading back in November and can't wait!
:cloud9:

Thanks for sharing, I am so looking forward to our first visit to OKW, we are staying in a 1 bed villa :)

Can you tell me more about the camp fire and smores? sounds fun :)

Thanks for such nice comments on the pics! My night setting blurs a bit, I am hoping to get some while it is still light here today. There is a nasty storm cloud over head and we are waiting for it to blow over before hitting the pool again.

Wish I could say I had a "sweet" redhead too ;) I always tell people she is sweeter in pictures, lol. She had more than one CM call her Ariel today and each time she looked so confused, lol. Then she got her pic taken with the real Ariel at Akershus today. What a treat that was, we had a wonderful time meeting all the princesses!

Is it just me or is one of those photos a bit out of place??????

Just don't check if your kids are around

???? Not sure what you mean, the pic of them in the little chairs? I actually had to beg them away from there they were enjoying the cartoons so much. I just thought I would include it because they are such a cute part of the check in area.

We went to the Community Hall for a bit last night and had so much fun! We are thinking about trying out the boat ride to DTD tonight. I'll definitely take some pics if we do!

Are you using the resort internet? is it easy to use?

Also would love to hear more about whats on offer at OKW, The camp fire sounds great.

omg - this is sooooo weird but when I looked at this thread this afternoon the 1st picture was quite risque and not of OKW :scared1:

I couldn't believe that no one else commented on this - I am glad to see that it's back to normal

Now I can go back and read all about OKW

REALLY????? I have no idea what that would have been?!?!?!? I have only posted the ones that are on here right now. That is so weird, I don't know what would have been there, doubt it was a pic of mine if it was risque!!!! I am nervous to add more pics now....

Thank you for the pictures. I will be there on monday in HH section

I am using the resort internet. It's not wi-fi, just an ethernet cord but yes, after plugging it in I am online immediately.

It's been raining for the past few hours, so no boat ride to DTD tonight. But the rain didn't keep us out of the pool! We had a wonderful time swimming in the pouring down rain, the kids loved digging in the sand and making a muddy mess too!

ERCRBC, If you get a chance, ask the CM at check-in which buildings have been refurbished and post it in your thread. Thanks a bunch and hope you had as fantastic of a time as we did at OKW in May.
