We will be making our first visit to Disney Quest and I feel clueless. There just doesn't seem to be a lot in the way of advice, much less touring strategies. Please help!!!

Background - DS4 is small for his age (hoping he hits 40" before the trip), DD5 is tall for her age, so probably no restrictions, DW can be prone to motion sickness (Mission: Space was not good for her).

What are the "must do", "gotta see", "do it first" attractions for us? We are planning on going in the middle of the week and arriving at opening, but it is still likely to be crowded as we will be in WDW the weeks before and after Easter.

TIA

My DS & I liked the area downstairs where you can sit in "pods", roll over balls (your car sucks them up) and shoot them at people.

Sorry - it's early and all I can think about is going outside to shovel. . . .

Have a great vacation!!

The whole family should enjoy the Pirates of the Caribbean. It uses 3-D glasses and an interactive surround-screen to make you feel as if you're piloting a ship thru stormy seas and doing battle with pirate ships. In the same area as "Pirates", you'll find a virtual jungle raft ride that you paddle yourselves. Both are located on the 1st floor. When you enter DQ, you will ride the elevator to the 5th floor, so you'll have to go down a few floors to get to these. I recommend getting to these rides first since the lines lengthen as the day/evening go on.

On the 2nd floor, Aladdin's Magic Carpet ride is a virtual reality ride on a magic carpet adventure with the Genie. You're DW may get motion sickness from this one and your DS4 will not be big enough for the helmet to fit properly. But you and your DS5 might enjoy it a lot. Also on this floor, you'll find the Radio Disney Song Maker, which is a lot of fun for any age. And then there's Cyber SPace Mountain, where you design and "virtually" ride your own roller coaster. Beware! My DS12 designed a real doozie of a coaster that made me sick to my stomache for a couple hours. And I'm a coaster-riding nut from way back!

You'll find Buzz Lightyears AstroBlaster on the 3rd floor. This is the attraction that TZMOM is referring to. It's sort of like bumper cars meets the firing range.

Those are probably the top attractions, but there are lots more. The following height restrictions apply to lone riders, but I believe that on Buzz, smaller children can ride with an adult.
  • Buzz Lightyear’s AstroBlasters - 51" minimum
  • CyberSpace Mountain - 51" minimum
  • Mighty Ducks Pinball Slam - 48" minimum

My kids (both teens) love DQ and it is a "must-do" on every Disney trip. Have Fun!

Motion sickness can be a big issue at DQ. Just about everything in there got to me.

We went in January and our tall for her age 7 yo DD was too short for the buzz astroblaster and cyberspace mountain.

BTW the 51" height limit on buzz applies even if the child rides with an adult.

Pirates of the Caribbean was a very cool ride and definitely not one to be missed. I am glad I went to DisneyQuest, but I must admit that I felt a little queasy throughout the entire day. Almost everything is a simulation ride, and several in a row made me woosy! However, there were some neat things to do besides simualtion rides. For example, there is an 'art' class where you digitally draw a Disney character with the help of an instructor. I think these classes only last 30 minutes, but you have to snag a seat right away because it fills up fast. Even though my drawing abilities are somewhat limited (ok VERY limited), I still had a good time. Of course, I don't know if your kids would like that or not. Not sure if that helped at all, but hopefully you have some more information!

I just wanted to mention that I had never ridden POC at DQ before because I was afraid of motion sickness. The group I was with this time kept insisting that I try it. When I told the CM of my concerns, he made our boat motionless and I didn't wear the helmet. I still had a great time and didn't feel the least bit sick. Might be an alternative if you think you might have a problem!

Thank you all so much for the information, it was all very helpful and, therefore, I feel a little less helpless.

aka-mad - thank you especially for your very thorough and descriptive post!!!

A 4yr old and a 5 yr old might have a difficult time at DQ. Except for the Chuck E Cheese type games (they give tickets and you have to pay additional for them). Not a lot that little kids can do there. Unless they are very independent with video games, it might be a bore for them. If their idea of fun will be Bear in the Big Blue House, you might want to save DQ for a future trip.
