I am trying to help a friend with Disney plans. She and her family haven't ever been to Disney. She has a four year old and a six year old. I don't want to overwhelm her. I am a planner but with small children and first trip just trying to give her the basics.
I have given tips and websites. I don't want them to be overwhelmed.
They will be staying five days.

I guess first need to start plans for each day. Sign up for the my Disney experience.

definitely sign up for my disney experience, give her some pointers on which resorts would best suit their needs, and as for fast pass its hard for new comers, so id just try to see if the kids like thrills or dark rides then just use the fast pass+ to get the popular attractions for this group honestly i could see dumbo being a choice and peters flight, and small world in MK

remind her don't expect the trip to be perfect and try not to freak out over little bumps in the road, just go and enjoy!

True thanks. Yes I think those rides are great for first time. I am going to try to type up a list.
There is a lot of planning even if you want to keep it somewhat simple.

Do you think a character meet or meal is good?

I would try to get an adr for a princess character meal and one for the Mickey crew so that they don't have to wait in line for meet n greets as much.

Make sure she plans breaks for the kids in the middle of the day. Chill at the hotel, swim in the pool, and a nap. Everyone will have a better time.

Yes make sure they work in resort + pool time! Breaks in the middle of the day work well, as well as having a couple lazy mornings/early nights.

Ok yeah I am not sure if they are going to a different park every day or what.
But they have five days.

Bring snacks! Kids tend to not eat as well while on vacation, but will snack while walking around the park and in the hotel while everyone is getting ready or unwinding. We always pack a whole suitcase full of snacks. Hungry kids don't make happy kids!

FP+ and a touring plan key to reduce wait times. In june, I didn't see ONE happy kid under the age of 5 after 11am. They were hot and probably tired of waiting in line.
