We are considering buying an AP for the first time, and I have a question about the expiration date, if I purchase the AP in say Feb 2016 but do not go until May 2016 when will the expiration date be for?
Feb 2016 or April 2016? I am asking because I want to be able to book FP+ for our first trip but dont want to shorten the pass by buying too soon!
TIA!

It will expire 1 year after the first use, regardless of when you buy it.

That's not entirely true. It will expire one year from when it's activated. If you purchase it in person, it's activated immediately. If you purchase it online or over the phone, it's activated the first time you use it.

Hmm...I didn't realize that.

Great I am not local so I can't buy it in person but good to know.

we purchased ours online on Feb 28th. We used it for the first time the second weekend of March and it expires Feb 28th. Unless you have a Resort reservation and can make FP at 60 days, I'd wait until 30 days out. This is when you can start booking FP as an AP holder.

They messed up your expiration date when they activated it. You can call in and get that fixed.

The expiration date is the one field that CMs can manipulate when they activate an AP, and they don't always update it correctly. That can be a good thing when upgrading tickets and they give you a couple extra days, but it can be a problem in situations like yours.
