Hello all,

This is my first post and I have a few question I hope you can help with. As a brief background, I have had a Universal Annual Pass for years; however, I haven’t been to Disney in years…please forgive me, I am looking to change that ;-) Last time I regularly went to Disney is when I was a CM back in the early 1990s (when I was in high school).

Ok so my question is about the order of operations when getting a new first time annual pass. I will be buying a Gold annual pass for myself and my daughter. I created a Disney account online and for the MDE app. I already ordered a couple magic bands from the online Disney store (I know we will get free ones with the APs but I really wanted some of the specialty ones). I am going to buy the APs online from Disney.

So what is the order I should follow to be sure I am not making a mistake (can you please tell me the correct letter order… i.e. A, B, C, D, E, F or A, D, C, B, E, F etc).

A) Link the annual pass I buy online to my MDE account.

B) Link the magic bands from the Disney store to my MDE account.

C) Choose 3 FP for the first trip I will be taking on my MDE account.

D) Active the APs at the main gate when we go for the first time.

E) Customize the magic bands online that I get for the APs.

F) Link the magic bands I get from the APs to the APs on the MDE account.

Thanks in advance for your help!!!!!!

D can be your last step.

Assume you're a Florida resident or DVC owner?
Hello DisBuckMan,
Thank you for the help!!!!
Yes I am a Florida resident. So just to verify, I can link the AP to MDE and link AP to MB and pick FP all before I activate my AP?

If you're buying from Disney then your AP is automatically linked to your mde account (log in to MDE then purchase the AP).

Then you can make fps 30 days out if off site, 60 days if on site.

When you go to Disney, stop by guest relations either at a park or Disney Springs and activate your AP. Then that's it

When you go online to customize your AP MB, when it's shipped to you it's already linked and ready for use.

So
A: buy AP through your mde
B: Make fast passes ahead of your trip
C: while at Disney activate the AP's
D: customize AP bands and they'll be shipped

Thank you very much! One follow up question...can I link a MB I purchase from the Disney store online to my AP before I activate the AP?
Thanks again!!!!

You don't link anything to your AP. Everything is linked through your MDE account. If you enter your tickets, dining plans, dining reservations, resort reservations, etc....they're all linked together through your MDE. Magic bands simply provide access to what's in your MDE.

If you buy a specialty MB and link it to your MDE, it will provide access to everything within your MDE profile.

No problem. Here's what I would do if I were you, and wanted to save a little money.

1. Go to Undercover Tourist and order two of their 4 day Park Hopper tickets with 3 extra days free ($419 each)...one for each of you.
2. Link them to your MDE.
3. Use them to make all your fastpass+ reservations.
4. Use them to enter the park.
5. After entering the park, go to guest services and upgrade them to Gold AP's. Make sure they "bridge" the price for you.

My wife did this last month and saved a lot on her Gold AP.

The tickets you pay $419 now for will have a value of $516.53 when you go to upgrade to your AP...giving you a savings of $97.53 per pass.

You have to hurry on this, though. What they have left of these tickets is it. When they're gone, there will be no more "price bridge-able" tickets to my understanding. If you're able, I'd order them now.
