First time...and overwhelmed!

I am visiting July 15th and at Anaheim Plaza Inn Im looking at $89 a night for two double beds. I have stayed there 3 times and really liked it. The walk to the park is close especially with my kids, they are around the same age as yours. I like how big the rooms are. Then again when we go we dont spend too much time in the room.

Other than that the first time I visited I had no plans and still had a ball. (and have been obsessed since) Im sure you will have lots of fun just enjoy being there!

I think it's $122 or so...for the 2 queen premium suite. It seemed at little high to me, but I was just hoping for somewhere reliable. I'm going to keep on eye on the Entertainment dates...maybe they'll add July--but then I think the premium suite isn't an option.

Well, if it makes you feel any better, we've got the 2 queen deluxe booked at HOJO for $109 and change week after next. IMO $122 is not too shabby for the premium suite. I did manage to get an EC rate for our last night and I'm still hoping that they'll offer it up for our remaining two. They are currently offering it through the day before we get there. lol

However, I can't offer any real insight into traveling in the summer, we always go in the off season, usually in the spring although I'm hoping to add a Halloween or Christmastime trip this year if I can.

Booked our flights! Got an awesome deal today through Air Canada...was a one day sale--to SNA?? Of course!! I couldn't believe it. $1550 for all 4 of us taxes included...that same flight is usually $600 a person on a good day.

Our dates have changed...but we are arriving at SNA on July 27th...leaving again August 7th. 11 nights.

We're going to do 5 nights in San Diego, 6 in Anaheim.

Here's the decision I have to make in the next 12 hours or so though...

Kids suite at Hojo ($139 a night or $1170 after taxes for 7 nights...plus about $600 for park passes for total of about $1770)

OR

Kids suite at the Hyatt ($1880/taxes and fees included/7 nights/5 day park hoppers/1 character dining for the 4 of us/$20 gift card for disney through Costco)

So...same price really. Just a matter of preference? Hojo gets amazing reviews...but Hyatt is going to be finished a huge renovation and it looks nice. A little nervous about the noise from the freeway in the Hojo kids suites...but know the kids would love the water play area. But...maybe they just need a pool?

What would you do? My kids are 4 and 7.

Thanks everyone!

:)

I've lost track of how many times I've been to DL, and I've always gone in the summer. After the first few hectic trips, I realized that if you get a 5-day pass, you don't have to worry about seeing and doing all that you want to do. You'll have plenty of time. Once I learned this, I enjoyed DL much more. And as someone else said on this board, it's not about the rides, it's about the place.

Erin, wish I could help here. My first impulse is HoJos because it is closer and I think it will improve your trip to have convenient walking access. But Hyatt's are nicer and it depends on your family.

Looks like we will be in the area at the same time but criss-cross if you do SD first then DLR. We are doing DLR July 28-30 (and maybe the 27th too) and then will travel to SD (well Oceanside - north SD) on the 31st for a week on the beach. :sunny:

It's a tough decision...I think we're leaning towards Hyatt because the pool will be quieter--realized that after a few hours at Disney then the kids will need to relax; not sure how relaxing the Hojo pool area would be?

As for walking...I know. The only thing that gives me hope is that the Hyatt shuttle seems to be reliable.

We're still thinking!

Have you considered staying onsite? The buy 3 nights get 2 nights free package deal has been extended to summer. We got 5 nights at the Disneyland Hotel in a standard room and 5 day hoppers for 2 adults and a 7 year old for $1705.50.

With the DLH you get a Neverland themed pool, a character meal onsite, and easy access to the monorail and Downtown Disney.

Also in the package you get early entry to Toontown and preferred seating at the Aladdin show and one of the parades although one of those featuresay be if you use the Disney Visa.

I know there is a disboards discount code of LNDB. I'm not sure exactly how much this is (10 or 15%?). I haven't used it, but saw it discussed on here and I saved the code for future use. This may help drop your HOJO pricing if you choose this option.

We are also going to DLR Mid July. Staying near Legoland for the first three nights then moving to DLR for 5 days. Our DLR days are July 18-22.

And SNA is a great airport to fly into to! It's very easy in and out!

Hope you have a magical trip!!:wizard:

We did consider the Disney Hotel...but we really want a suite, and therefore can't justify the price at DLH compared to the Hyatt or Hojo.

We're super excited!
