I really want to replan a summer trip...
They can not just open the doors... maybe i should wait till they call staff back, see some deliveries being made. Just yesterday the resorts officially closed at 5pm 3/20/20

We will be canceling our May 1st trip soon (like everyone else in this situation, 7 months of planning down the drain) and we are thinking about a late summer trip. However, we'll probably wait until the end of April before committing to a new date. Depending on who you listen to Disney may re-open in April, May or not until mid-summer ! We are going to take a wait and see attitude. Everyone's health is more important than a trip to the World, they aren't going anywhere.

You need dates in order to make reservations, but do you need dates to start planning?

Plan a "hypothetical" summer trip. You can figure out where you'll want to stay, what parks to visit, what rides and attractions you'll do, which fast passes you'll need, where you'd like to eat.

Once you have dates, you can fine-tune the details.

We went to disney last week, we really want to replan the rest of the trip. We have ticket credits

This was (still may be ?) a special trip for our family. Our younger son is graduating from college (commencement postponed or canceled ?? :-( ) and will be off to the working world and our older son is returning to school after 2 years working. So, I'm not sure we'll be able to get everyone on the same schedule in the near future. I'm sure a lot of people are in our same situation. Hopefully this crisis won't be a s bad as some are reporting and we get back back to relative normal soon. I indirectly work in the medical research field so I certainly understand a canceled trip to WDW is just a minor inconvenience compared to what some people are going through.

I bet they are replanning resort and park operations for re-opening to establish more social distancing. Ask guests to leave more space in lines. Not seat strangers in the same row. Not seat people too close in restaurants. Castmembers serving from buffets. Lots to consider.

I’m taking a wait and see attitude about our Aug trip. Nothing is worth risking your health over. I would be surprised if Disney is open by June.

They would have to significantly lower park capacity in order to do this and then increase pricing to offset the revenue lost by having less people in the parks and restaurants. i don’t see them opening until they can operate normally and certainly not before state and local restrictions are lifted.

I agree with this. They might be able to control people standing in line--might--but can you picture them sanitizing every lap bar and seat every time someone gets off a ride? I don't think so. Think of the switchback lines in QS restaurants. If people stood 6 feet apart, the lines would stretch for a mile, and how would you order standing 6 feet away from the cashier?

I think to start, they may implement more virtual queues, only allow mobile ordering at QS.

I also believe it will be a very long time until they open.

Here's my thoughts for what they are worth...

I'm a local, I live in Winter Garden which is right out the back gate of Disney...

I think that there is alot of communication going on behind the scene's that we just aren't privy to ...

Disney, Universal, Convention Center, Resorts, Time shares, Airlines... These are the life blood of Orlando... Plus of course all of our wonderful Visitors...

I do know that lots of people that work for Disney behind the scene's in the offices and other areas are working remotely from home and are having virtual meetings.. and that they are working on it...

I can't see them opening all the parks at once, it's just not feasible... As well as all the resorts not reopening for guest right away - There are so many moving parts to get re-started...

Frankly just getting the amount of food into the parks to run the restaurants will be a challenging...

Getting the local employees checked and double checked, as well as the college programs, and culinary programs sorted out, checked and double checked as well as the international employees back here...checked and double checked...

Disney Springs could be the first to reopen... due to the fact that the locals will come back right away... and to support it... that will get the ball rolling... maybe even one of the water parks...

I would think - Most likely MK will open first... and gets is up and running... I will say I am missing hearing the fireworks nightly,

I have 2 trains of thought on the next parks to opens, 1) AK as it is a smaller park, and that the zookeepers are still working, and might be the easiest to get up and running...2) DHS, with all the newest rides and Star Wars land, this is a stand out for guest... So it could go either way...

I think lastly Epcot will be the last to open, due to all the construction, as well as the international employee logistic's and health concerns... It might be quite a while before this park opens up...

With the water parks, possibly staggering openings, as well as the mini golf locations...

I really don't see the resorts opening up right away, and them being staggered when opening... maybe one resort in each category...

As well when Disney does something...they don't mess around, especially when you are talking about the amount of money they are losing... every day they are closed... So getting everything up and running is going to take quite a bit of magic and pixie dust...

I am hoping that by the end of June that everything will be back to normal...
