was wondering for those of you that have been, do you believe that a request by elevator or near lobby is a better way to go?

TIA

We stayed at Kidani 2 years ago and are heading back in 95 days (yes I'm already counting!) Definitely ask to be close to the Lobby. The last time we were there, we had a real trek with a 3 year old from the lobby to our room. Also, if you have a savanna view, you are pretty much guaranteed the better savanna being by the lobby.

Yep- ask for close to lobby, of not the hike to the lobby from your room could be 10-15 minutes.. If not more

Thanks for the input and yes, we are in a Savannah view so glad to hear the near lobby request may also improve our view!

Just keep in mind that "close to the lobby" is a very popular request and you may not be one of the lucky ones to get one of those rooms. Good luck!

I requested between pool and lobby and loved it! Not to far of a walk to anything in Kidani! Also bonus is that the bus picks up 1st at Kidani (except for Downtown Disney) is awesome! I felt so sorry for everyone at Jambo house. Usually only a few families could get on because the bus was already packed!

Have stayed at Kidani twice and I believe both times we requested "close to lobby, lobby floor". Requests were granted but this was in 2009 and 2010.

We are also going to be at Kidani this June May 31 - June 6th. This will be our 2nd stay there, and we are so excited. I last stayed there 4 years ago and loved it. I do remember that it seemed as though the halls went on and on and on.....when you are very tired, that is not a good thing. I'm also going to request"close to the lobby." (but we don't expect to get it---but you never know and worth trying) It is such a beautiful resort and I know our trip will be special regardless of how far from the lobby we are.....we can't wait!

When I stayed at AKL, I always felt that their were better views of the animals further out on the "wings", away from the lobby. Rooms closer to the lobby seemed to have walking paths or other things below the rooms that meant the animals could not comes close. (In particular, the rooms that are club level/concierge have bad animal views, IMHO). Is this not true at Kidani?

I am there in 2 weeks, for 2 nights in a 1-BR on $$, so I do not expect to be near the lobby, lol.

Just got back from 10 nights in savanna view studio 7514 and we loved it! I requested near the timon elevator and got it. We were on the 5th floor - would have liked to be lower but we still saw a ton of animals. The Timon elevator is also pretty close to the bus stops which was a bonus. Lobby wasn't far either. image.jpg

I recommend that you do not make a request for "close to lobby." Everyone who has been to Kidani before and suffered the ungodly walks to rooms far from lobby is now making a "close to lobby" request. It is also one of the few requests provided during online check-in and thus even cash guests can make it. The result is that many who now request "close to lobby" do not get it and the default position when a location request cannot be met is to put you in any available room, which is often all those near the end of the wings from which the walk is forever., i.e., many who have requested close to lobby are now ending up as far from the lobby as you can possibly be.

To raise chances of getting location request granted and still be fairly close to lobby, you should try one of the following by providing it to MS (and then do not do anything in the online check in where you can make requests): (a) close to community hall; it is on the south wing and a room near it would be fairly close to lobby and the exit door closest to the bus station; (b) close to the Timon elevator, and if granted you would be fairly close to lobby and near that same door closest to the bus stop; (c) close to Rafiki elevator, which if granted is on the north wing not far from lobby and providing the shortest possible walk to the pool via that elevator to ground (parking lot) floor.

Yep, drusba has it right. I agree that I'm not sure asking for close to lobby is the best why to attack your room request. We have stayed at Kidani many times and the one time we requested close to lobby, we ended up with the very last, and I mean the very last room on the floor. The animal viewing was good, but the walk was very very long!
